Finding out that Otis had broken up with Sweeney over her unfaithfulness was never a surprise to me. When I left her, she was with two other boys; Dancan and Otis. By the time Otis was dropping her, she was again having two other boys. If I were told to choose between trusting her and going to hell, I would gladly choose hell.

For the second time, we exchanged our contacts with Otis. It was yet another reconciliation. "Bro, I admire your life now. I just love your relationship with Betty. Am even surprised her mother is here because of you." He said.

"Yes. This is now my wife. I thank God for the far we have come. It's good you had foreseen this and even suggested that she was the best. Indeed, even my mom is happy with her." I answered.

We then left for the restaurant in Maseno town together with Otis. Even though my mom felt bad when she realized he was dating Sweeney, she was happy to see him asking for forgiveness and confessing that Sweeney was not a lady to be loved and trusted. We kept these conversations out of the ears of Betty's mom.

We took some photos together with Otis while in our graduation gowns to celebrate our friendship and such achievements.

When it was getting late in the evening, I called my Boss who sent his driver with his personal car to take us back home. Betty's mom sat together with the driver while my mom sat between me and Betty and Peter was in front of us. Otis had gone back to reunite with his part of family who came for his graduation.

We drove to Betty's home where her mom alighted. We proceeded with Betty to our home so that we could spend the night together with her.

"I have to be with you my love. I love you today, tomorrow and to infinity." Betty said. I was about to say "I love you too" when mom shouted, "Amen!" We burst into laughter.

It was almost 7.30pm when we got back home. I was very tired. We alighted and I directed the driver to come back and pick me up the following day. Betty held me as we were headed to our room. She made me to sit on the bed as she squatted on the floor. She removed my shoes and the clothes; leaving only the vest and the short.

She left to the kitchen and brought me warm bathing water. As I was taking shower, she was with mom helping her to prepare supper, even though we seemed to be satisfied.

Unfortunately, I got into a deep sleep and I felt some warm lips on mine. I woke up and found out it was her. "Baby, your food is ready. Let's go to the dining room." She said. I got up, hugged her and we left to have our supper.

We came back to sleep at 10pm. She began to massage me and in the process, slept off. The following day, I was to leave for job. She got up earlier as she was used to. I found when she had prepared tea and my bathing water was already in the bathroom. We took the breakfast and went to the bathroom together.

By 11am, I had called the driver to pick us up. He came and we both said bye to mom and Peter. "Bye my son and daughter. May God bless your relationship and your proposed marriage. Am happy for you." Mom said.

Betty alighted in Kisumu, next to their home, as I proceeded with my journey to Vihiga.

Betty was to complete her fourth year in April the following year and we had planned for our marriage the same year December, which was just a year from then.

While in my internship, I applied for a job still as a Political Analyst and Strategic Planner for one of the renowned Political icon in the country. By January, my application had been processed and I qualified. However, before I could leave, my former Boss asked me to look for my replacement.

I called Otis to secure that position. They were paying Kshs 10,000 per month for the internships. My new job was paying Kshs 18,000, with additional tasks such as being the Personal Assistant (PA) to the boss. I left for Karen, Nairobi, in January after Otis had come to take over my position.

"Thank you bro. I'll never forget about you! Safe journey and success in your new job!" Otis said.

"Welcome. Success also and work smart. We shall meet in the field." I answered and left.

Betty was done with her campus studies in April. Surprisingly, she was retained by the university to help in some classes for the incoming first year group - a job she was to begin in September. It was a good news to me and to the whole family.

Her graduation was also scheduled for December, the same year she completed. As the history dictates, we had to be part of her. Otis requested to use his boss's car to attend the graduation ceremony of my wife to-be. He went to pick my mom at home. Betty's mom used another vehicle together with her husband and part of their family. I traveled from Nairobi and we both met in Moi University.

"This is my son-in-law-to-be!" Betty's mom broke the news to her dad. He looked at me and after a long silence, he said, "Before asking who he is and how it began, I can proudly say that he fits my daughter. Am also aware this thing began long time ago and I can't dispute it right now."

Both families did introduction and in a special meeting, we agreed to tie the knot on 20th of December. We parted ways and traveled back to Nairobi as Otis went home with my mom. She later informed and organized for the wedding with her Church, the Anglican Church of Kenya. Things changed and I could see a flyer with "BETTY WEDS OSCAR" written on it.

The wedding ceremony was attended by a crowd of people, alongside my colleagues and friends. "A journey of a 1000 miles begins with a step. Today, both Oscar and Betty are here to take the wedding oath, in front of the holy altar and you as the witnesses. We pray that God will always be there for them." Bishop Emmanuel said and the congregation cheered.

We exchanged the wedding vows and Betty put the wedding ring in my finger. "I, Betty Adhiambo, do take you Oscar Aluru, to be my lawfully wedded husband...I promise to be with you, in sadness and in happiness....I promise to love you forever...till death do us apart!" A kiss followed! It happened to be a bit longer than it was expected until Bishop was almost going back to have his seat.

The cake was cut and Betty fed my family as I was doing the same to her family. When the ceremony ended, we took off to Nairobi to have our honeymoon. Anyway, nothing was new except that I was sure I was having what belongs to me and ordained by God. We prayed for a successful marriage.

The following week, we came back home shortly to pass out sincere gratitude to the Church and to both our families. Furthermore, I was given two weeks holiday and that was the best time we had to be with my mom.

One month later, Betty began to develop some headache and she lost appetite. I took her to hospital for the check-up where she was pronounced positive for a one-month-old pregnancy. This was the hardest news to break to my mom - I was just too happy to talk about it. However, we had to do it.

"You look so happy and yet you were almost dying. What was the problem?" Mom asked with a smiley face. Betty was touching her stomach. "Do you have a stomachache?" She asked again.

"Momma...we are one month pregnant!" Betty said, as if I was also pregnant with her. Anyway, it was for us. Mom got up, hugged Betty before she could come for my hug. "Oh, thank you God. At this time, I'm giving you a lot of thanks." She prayed while touching Betty's stomach. "Congratulations my son and daughter!" She added.

Betty, or rather, we, delivered successfully to a bouncing baby boy. We named him Alex, after my late dad who died eight years ago and according to my mom's wishes.

"Thank you for bringing to me my husband. He's Alex. Look the way he's resembling his father." Mom said happily.

Betty and I lived happily. We were very lucky that God blessed us with two more kids; Grace, named after Betty's mom and Eunice. She got a job with an NGO based in Nairobi while I was still working in Karen. Later, we bought a land in Muhoroni.
