Peter got up and went to mom. At this time, I was peeping through the window towards the backdoor. "Are you sick?" She asked.

"No!"

"Why have you decided to be here alone when you were just resting on the sofa?"

"Nothing wrong momma. I wanted to get some fresh air."

"I didn't see you greeting Oscar when he arrived. What's wrong?" Peter looked down, his mouth trembling as if he wanted to say something that was bitter.

"Nothing is wrong momma..."

"Everything to you is nothing, nothing and nothing. Get away from my sight and go and serve Oscar food!" Mom ordered. I jumped from the window and went to have a seat. Peter had no alternative but to do as per mom's orders.

She followed him. He went to the kitchen to get me food. Mom proceeded to the sitting room where she was before. Peter came with the food and passed me without a word to the dinning room where he placed the food on the table. He left towards the kitchen as if he was going for another thing, only to be missing for the next next hour.

I got up and went to the sink to wash my hands. I was just about to begin eating when some smell of kerosene reached my nose. "But mom, did you put kerosene in this fish?" I asked.

"Which kerosene, Oscar?"

"I can smell it here, Mom." I took the dish with the fish to her. Before she could have it close to her nose, she already smelled it. "And how did kerosene get to this food?" She wondered. She began to call Peter but no response. She therefore went to the kitchen to find out where the mess could be. The remaining food in the sufuria was just fine, but the kitchen was smelling bit of the kerosene.

Peter knew I had crossed his lines. However, he could not let Mom know about this because he could be in trouble. Again, I was also finding a way of breaking such news to her that I had broken up with Sweeney - her beloved daughter in-law to be. In either way, Peter and I were just about to be into deep trouble. If only Peter knew this, he could have come to me so that we get a way of convincing mom together.

"Have seen some strange behaviours in him for last two months. Peter thinks that because he has finished Form Four now he's a big man to control everyone here. Let him come back." Mom said.

Towards evening, Peter came back and he got into his room. Mom followed him immediately and held him with his belt, as they were coming to the sitting room. I knew that was the only time my case was going to be opened for the first hearing. If you see your fellow is being shaved, start pouring water on your hair.

A strong woman she was! Living and taking care of two men wasn't an easy task! She had to be strong, strict and a renown disciplinarian. She brought Peter to the sitting room, made him lie down on his belly as he was explaining why he had to put kerosene in the food he served me.

"Mom, I'm sorry about that. In school we used to take githeri with little kerosene. I thought Oscar would love it too..." Before he could finish his statement, one hot slap landed on his cheeks. He began to cry as more strokes got their ways to his buttocks.

Peter got more angry at me but never told Mom where our problem with him was. He was younger than me and it was just reasonable for him to approach me if he had any problem.

Two weeks later, our differences continued to grow. However, at this time, we could talk but not spending any time storying or doing anything together as we used to do. Sometimes, he could text me instead of coming to me even if we were just next to each other. The hurting part was that I had no time to text him back - it was a total waste of time and airtime.
