A Perfect Storm

Chapter Three

Neal's POV-

I had been out of prison for a week before I learned that Evonne had died years ago, I had to make a lot of calls but I eventually learned where my son was, I then had to get Julia's number and once I got it, I called. "Hello?" She answered.

"Hey, Julia? It's Neal Caffrey" I respond.

"But..I thought you were in jail"

"Oh I was, there was a change in my situation. I'm out now" I explained.

"Did you escape? I'm not giving you Jaxon if that's the case."

"I didn't, I have a deal, with the FBI. It did come to be as a result of me escaping though" I smirked.

"So I assume you're calling for Jaxon?"

"You were designated as only a temporary placement. My name is on the birth certificate"

"I know, I'm fine with you getting him...." she paused so I interrupted her.

"Okay, well you can bring him over here today."

"Neal, he's three, he's never even met you, I don't know how he'll react"

"Oh, I'm sure he'll be fine. I mean he is used to a bunch of random dangerous people coming through the house all the time. I'd hate for the FBI to find out what exactly you do"

There was no response at first but after a moment of silence she answered, "okay, you'll have to pick him up"

"I can't"

"Why can't you?"

"Because I don't have a car" I wasn't going to tell her what exactly my deal involved and that her place was out of the range I was allowed to go away from where I live.

She sighed, "alright, where do you live?" She asked then I told her and she said they'd be here soon.

After half an hour there was a knock on my door so I went and answered, when I opened the door Julia stepped in, the small boy gripping her hand, "here's some stuff I thought you'd want until you can get him more stuff" she said, handing me a bag before looking down, "Jaxon, this is your dad" she gently told him, he looked up at me and smiled. Julia let go of his hand and he ran off into my room, "are you still mad at me for France?" I asked in a whisper.

"Of course I'm not. I'm just tired of having a kid that isn't mine. Now I'm going to go" she said before turning and walking away. I closed the door and turned around, Jaxon was standing back near the door to the balcony, facing me. "You really my dad?" He questioned.

"Yeah" I smiled, he ran over and hugged me. The next day I went to the store to shop for him, I could tell he was happy about it, he also told me about how at Julia's he wasn't allowed toys so I assured him he could have them now, he is a kid after all. I could tell Jaxon didn't fully warm up to me right away, after about a week though I could tell he had. I woke up one morning to Jaxon talking to someone, it took me a minute to realize it was Mozzie, "Neal, why didn't you tell me you have a kid?" He asked when I sat up.

"He's only been here for a week, you haven't been by yet so I haven't told you yet. This is Jaxon"

"I know his name, he told me"

"You sleep forever" Jaxon tells me.

"No, I don't" I smiled a bit, he went back to playing with his cars.

"He's smart for a little kid too" Mozzie informs me.

"Yeah, I know"

"And you're weird" Jaxon said to Moz without looking up.

"See" I joked with a grin.

"Let's see what happens next time you need something from me" he said as he walked to my door.

"Come on, Moz, it was just a joke" Mozzie didn't answer, he just left, I closed the door behind him. "Did you let him in?" I asked Jaxon. He nodded, giggling with an adorable little grin. "You really are smart Jaxon" I told him as I got out some cereal. "Don't open the door before I'm up again, okay?" I told him as I handed him a bowl.

"Okay" he said as he took his bowl.
