-Jaxon's POV-

"I have to be watched by uncle Mozzie for how long?" I questioned Monday morning after my dad had said something I didn't understand.

"Indefinitely, it means for an amount of time I don't know yet. Could be until you're old enough to be home by yourself"

"When's that?"

"Uhm...about two years"

"Why can't aunt Lizbeth or June watch me?"

"June's got stuff to do and Elizabeth is working"

"But what bout when she not working?"

He sighed, "I don't want you to be around Peter"

"Why?" I questioned, tilting my head slightly.

"We aren't getting along right now and for as long as that is happening, he doesn't need to be influencing you"

"What does that mean?" I questioned as Mozzie walked in, interrupting before my dad could respond.

"I need to go. Have fun with Mozzie." He told me before leaving.

"He's running off pretty quickly isn't he?" Mozzie stated as my dad turned the corner at the end of the hall for the stairs.

I nodded, "I think he's in trouble"

"With Peter?"

"He said they're fighting"

"I warned him about working with them, but did he listen to me?" He questioned, I was confused as to what he was talking about.

"I don't know" I answered.

"I know. I was talking to myself. Are you ready? We have things to do"

I nodded to his first question, "what?"

"I have a friend who has a daughter your age, so you'll play with her, while I talk to my friend."

"I don't wanna"

"Okay. She's not really my friend, she just has something for me, and I need your help to get it"

"Why?"

"Because I know you can be good at distracting, and she won't be able to resist any strange questions you ask her"

"Cause I'm adorable?"

"Or because you're the son of two of the best con artists I've ever known"

"What does con artist mean?" I questioned as I had heard those words often but nobody would ever tell me what they meant.

"You can worry about that later, we need to get going now"

"Alright, winosaurus" I said as I got up from the table then headed over to him.

"Where did you hear that?"

I shrugged, "I hear lots of things people don't think I hear"

"I would have thought you heard it, you were sitting at the table" I giggled as he told me that, I did remember hearing it. "Do you hear things you shouldn't?" He questioned as we walked downstairs.

"I don't know. But if I think I heerd something I'm not supposed to I do this" I stated then covered my ears, "den I just pretend I heard nothing" I smiled, taking my hands down.

"Okay" he chuckled, "we need to get everything done before your dad gets home"

"Why?" I questioned as we stepped out the front door.
