Chapter Sixty-Three: Rose

When i open my eyes, i see a little girl playing with some toys on the ground humming a song.

    “Can i have some water?” I ask with a raspy voice.

 The little girl squeals, jumping up and turning around. She looked like she was about 5 or 6 years old. She has long wavy brown hair that goes to her waist, big blue eyes and a cute little noise. What is a little girl doing in here?

 She quickly walks out of the room, coming back with a glass of water. She slowly walks it over to me. Once she handed it to me, she got as far away as possible. I brought the glass up to my face taking a couple of gulps of water. 

    “What’s your name?” i ask, with a smile. 

She tried pushing herself behind a couch that was next to her, but she couldn’t go any further back. I could tell she was scared of me, but i don’t understand why.

    “Did i do something? If i did my sorry.” I say lowering my head. I feel so guilty for some ression. I don’t want to scare her. 

 I could feel something cold touch my arm. I look over to see the little girl. She was smiling up at me.

“My names Phoenix.” she says in a sweet voice.

I smile back at her “My name's Rose. What are you doing here?” i ask with concern.

“The big man said my bubby told him to take me here untill he come and gets me.” she says in a sad voice.

“What’s wrong?” i ask.

    “It’s just it’s been over a week since they brought me here and i just want to go home. Why hasn’t bubby came and got me yet?” she says with tears in her eyes.

 I pick her up and put her on the bed. She wraps her arms around my waist and starts sobbing. 

    “Shhhhhhhhhh, its okay. You’ll be able to go home soon . i promise you and i’ll be the one to take you there. Okay?” i say rubbing circles on her back.

    “You promise?” she says looking up into my eyes.

    “I pinky promise.” i say holding out my pinky. She puts out her pinky and intertwines it with mine and we make a pinky promise which i intend to keep. 

    “So who’s your brother?” i ask with curiosity.

    “Grayson. You guys could date. He needs a girl in his life. Those boys are always working him.” She says with hope in her eyes.

I smile at her.” Thinks but i already have a boyfriend. I’m sorry.” i say 

She fronds and says “of course you do.” then she brightens up all over again. 

 I slowly put her back on the floor and try to get off the bed. I push myself off and collapse to the floor. 

 Phoenix quickly gets beside me, “Are you okay?” she asks

I smile up at her shaking my head yes. She looks me over, i could tell she didn’t believe me, but she let it go. I try one more time to get up and very slowly i get up and make my way to the bathroom. 

 I stare into the mirror, looking at my complexion. I was so pale from lack of sunlight. I had dark circles under my eyes from not sleeping well. I looked like shit. I had cuts and bruises all over my face and body. I had multiple stab wounds and a gunshot to  my stomach. Why did i want to come back? Look at me. I'm so weak. What if Ryder needs me and i can't help because of how weak i am. I just hope he’s okay. 

    I leave the bathroom to find Jacob sitting on my bed missing with Phoenix.

    “Leave her alone!!” i say through gritting teeth.

 He turns his head, smiling at me. “Ah you’re awake.” he says.

 I could see tears in her eyes threatening to come out. I look down to see Jacob had a gun at her side. 

“I'm going to ask you one more time.” i say clinching my fists. “Leave. Her. Alone.”

 His smile grew bigger and he started laughing. “What if i say no.”

    “Then i guess i'll have to kill you.” i say shrugging my shoulders.

 He busts out into a fit of laughter. “You.haha..kill...haha..me.haha. Thats funny. That's really funny.” he says wiping way tears that were forming from laughing. 

    “The thing is Jacob, you don’t know the real me.” i say.

 He becomes confused. “What do you mean?” he asks. 

I slowly made my way towards  him. He digs the gun into Phoenix’s side. I put my hands up and say “You think i can’t kill you, will you should think again. I’ve killed before. I used to be the baddest of the bad at my old school,but then my mother died and i changed but you know what? If you dare hurt her i will kill you slowly and you’ll wish you didn’t bring that part out of me because trust me i can be a monster.” 

    I could see the fear in his eyes, but he tried his hardest to stay strong. He puts the gun to her head. Phoenix starts crying and hearing her cry was the worst feeling and that got my blood boiling. 

    “You couldn’t hurt a fly. You’re just trying to scare me and it’s not working and i’m getting tired of this conversation so you know imma leave you with your favorite person in the world.” he says smiling. “Good bye.”

    He gets up and leaves. Phoenix runs into my arms sobbing. I could hear the door open, so i push her behind me. She clings on to my leg for dear life. Mykel walks in with a big smile on his face. 

    “Honey im home.” he says laughing.

He makes his way over to me and Phoenix. He grabs me by my arm throwing me on the bed. Pain shoots up my sides, as if a thousand pens just stabbed me. It was happening again and this time in front of a little girl. I violently shake, unable to move from my spot. He climbs on top of me, smiling down at me. 

    “This is going to be fun.” he says. 

 No this is not happening again. I bring my knee up hitting him right where it hurts. He falls to the floor groaning in pain. I bind down punching him in the face.

    “You’re right this was fun.” i say smiling down at him.

His face was all bloody and i could tell i broke his nose. And he was not pleased. I quickly grab Phoenix and run to the door. Please don’t be locked. I pull on the door and it opens. Yes! We run down the hallway and take a door to the right. I look around to see that we were in a white room. There was a bed in the far corner and that was all. I quickly grab the bed and drag it in front of the door trying to block it. 

    “Okay we should be safe for now. I hope.” i say.

I look down to see Phoenix silently crying. I bend down to her height.

“Are you okay?” i ask wiping away her tears. 

She shakes her head no, wiping away her tears.

“Hey it’s going to be okay. We are going to get out of here. You hear me. We are going to leave or at least you are going to.”  i say to her.

She shakes her head smiling. “Yes we are and i’m not leaving you behind. We are a team”

I smile down at her “ Okay but if we have a chance to leave, you are going to run and not look back no matter what okay.” I say seriously 

She sadly shakes her head yes. 

    “Okay let's get out of this hell hole.”
