"America is like an apple. On the outside, it's beautiful to look at. But on the inside, you get to taste the cyanide."

"Honey, lunch is ready!" A lady in a casual clothing, Emilia Wanderton, called out for her husband, who is in the garden lawn. Emilia looked out on the second-floor window waiting for a response, patience slowly thinning out. "Rafi, you can continue chopping those wood boards later. We've still got plenty of time before commencement." Emilia shouted with her hands on the side of her mouth, in an effort to make him come inside, in fear of making the food cold.
"Coming!" Satisfied at the response, Emilia turned back and started walking to the table. Emilia's eyes glanced at the floor, mind wandering free. The thought of America's twisted government was enough for Emilia to draw out a disappointed sigh. "Fuck the New Founding Fathers. Honestly, who woke up and thought killing is a good idea?! Even though they made crime legal, it's still a bad thing t-"
"Madame, you're doing it again."
Emilia jumped back in surprise, with her arms in a defensive position and eyes wide open. Emilia looked where the voice was coming from, eventually finding out her nanny was looking at her with a hint of amusement. "Melanie! Uhm..." Emilia rubbed the back of her head, smiling sheepishly in embarrassment. Melanie smirked at her, only fueling her embarrassment, making her cheeks pink. "How long were you standing there?" Emilia asked, hoping it wasn't too long.
"Enough time to know you aren't proud of our government. I was coming here to let you know lunch is ready.". Melanie turned around to where the Dining Room is. Once Melanie was out of sight, she muttered to herself, "I should quit talking to myself.". She began to move her legs, for her stomach was about to growl.
Dining Room
"You shouldn't tire yourself out, Rafi." She raised in a scolding tone, concerned about his well-being. "R-Right.But I just want to finish chopping wood so that we can barricade our doors." Knowing he was just being paranoid, she can tell everything would be just fine. She was about to open her mouth, until she decided to drop the topic.
"Here it is." Melanie came in holding a bowl of soup on her hands with a dish towel separating her hand and the bowl. The steam rising from the bowl made their appetite stronger. "Woah! Did nanny cook this?" A boy, Rowan, questioned his mom. "Yes, Rowan." Emilia smiled and looked at Melanie, appreciating her culinary skills. Rowan's eyes sparkled at that comment. Without hesitation, he grabbed a spoon and took a sip of the soup. Melanie looked at him, looking for any reaction.
It wasn't long enough until Rowan smiled at her in amazement. That expression in his face was enough for Melanie to tell her food was delicious. "Well then, let's eat." Rafi grabbed his utensils lying around the side of his plate, and served himself some rice. Not long after, everyone on the table served themselves some food. The moment was filled with laughter and happiness, not knowing what was about to come down later.
