Background Knowledge

Aviva lived on the Surface in the Underswap AU. She was unaware of the existence of the AUs. Every morning she would head to the Corner Shop Bakery and get a chocolate muffin. Today, however, something very different would happen.

Aviva's POV

"Have a nice day, Mr. Jeff!"

I waved to the shop owner as I left the store with my chocolate muffin in hand. Usually, I would stay and eat in the little shop, but today I needed to get home. I was working on an animation and I was in the middle of a burst of inspiration. Those times were rare and I couldn't waste a second of it.

I hummed to myself as I walked down the street, a breeze tickling my wolf ears. I walked past an alleyway, but stopped. My ears twitched and I could hear punches being thrown and yelps of pain. I turned around and looked into the alleyway. The sight was awful. My ears pinned to the back of my head as I observed the scene before me. A group of humans, all around the same age, were beating up a monster. I couldn't exactly see the monster, but I knew because of the nasty and cruel things they were saying.

"Filthy creature!"

"Go back to where you came from!"

"No one wants you here!"

"Just go die!"

I barred my teeth slightly and walked into the alleyway. I pushed the humans out of the way with force and stood in front of the helpless monster. I glared at the attackers and made a protective stance. "Leave them alone! What did they do to you?!" One of them took a step closer and I growled at them. What seemed to be their leader, stepped forward. He sneered at me. "Look what we got here? A freak protecting a freak. Step out of the way missy or you're next."

I stand my ground, but my legs started getting shaky. "N-no. Leave now!" My dull eyes bore into his and he smirked. "Suit yourself. Janna! Hand it over." 

'Janna' stepped forward and handed him the item he desired. That just so happened to be a spiked baseball bat. I shrunk back slightly at the sight, the sharp nails protruding from the bat covered in dried blood. I glanced behind me and signaled for the monster to get out of here. The little monster hastily ran away.

In the few seconds I faced away from them, one took the opportunity to push me to the ground. I backed away into a wall, my legs to weak to hold me up anymore. I was surrounded. I looked around panicked, trying to find a way out. But there wasn't one. 

I started hyperventilating, my vision narrowing and blurring. No. Not now. But I couldn't stop. The panic spread through me like a wild fire. "Aww. Is the wolfy gonna cry?" I saw the man hold the bat back, poised to attack. I could hear laughs ring through the group. I started getting dizzy and I could no longer focus on one thing. 

When the bat made contact with me, I could barely feel it. It felt as I felt my body had gone numb. Hit after hit, the nails sunk into my bloodied tan skin. I was on the verge of passing out, thought I was unclear whether it was from the loss of blood or from my panic. I fought to keep my eyes open, but it was useless. However, just as I was about to pass out, I saw two figures push through the crowd of attackers.

Everything went black.

Dream POV

I followed the little monster child into an alleyway and saw the group of humans attacking an innocent wolf girl. With all the negative emotions flowing, I couldn't use my powers to move the humans away. Instead, I pushed my way through. I picked up the girl and turned to face the crowd. "There was no need for you to hurt this innocent girl." The man holding the bloody bat scoffed at me. "She's just another monster freak. I think that's reason enough." 

I frown at him and teleport out of the alleyway. They looked around shocked, gripping their weapons. I sighed and looked at the monster child. She was looking up at the girl in my arms. I smiled down at her. "Don't worry. She's gonna be okay. Go on home now." The girl nodded hesitantly and ran off. 

I quickly teleported to the base and laid her down on my bed. The positive energy here allowed me to use my powers. I hovered a hand over her body and concentrated my magic. A golden aura surrounded her and the wounds began to heal. As I worked, I observed her. A blush came to my face when I saw that her sweater had big tears in it, revealing some of her skin. I shook my head and focused on her face. She looked peaceful. Her black hair appeared to be around shoulder length. It looked soft, despite the blood that stained it.

I finished up the healing process and brought a hand to her hair. I ran my phalanx through it and smiled. It is soft. I stopped feeling her hair and sat on the edge of the bed. "Please wake up soon."

Time skip to 3 years later

Third POV 

"Aviva! You need to be more careful!"

Aviva sighed and nodded at Dream's request. He finished wrapping her arm up and sat back in the chair beside his bed. "You worry me so much!" He looks at her with concern present in his eyelights. She takes his hand and squeezes it. "I'm sorry I worried you, Dreamy. I'll be more careful next time. I promise." 

He smiled at her and hugged her softly, making sure to not injure her. "It's okay, Vi. I still love you." Aviva happily hugs back and leans into her boyfriends touch. "Love you too."
