Thirty Three

Sam and Harvey roamed around for hours. The town might be small but it had so many turns and corners, they got lost a couple of times
The sun was coming up and it was beginning to look like their journey had only just begun

Harvey has not said a word since they left the diner. He is still caught up with the fact that Randy could betray him in such gruesome manner. It hit him hardcore and now he's unsure of what's next to do

Sam observed that Harvey has been really quiet the whole thing must have gotten to him. She's still surprised by Randy's betrayal and he could let Harvey down like that. Harvey wasn't the easiest person to work with but he was a good man and great boss especially to randy.

"Harvey...... Are you feeling OK. You haven't said anything since we left the diner "
Sam asked slowing her pace to walk with him

"Yeah...... Am good..... Am good. .. Am really good "

"Who are you trying to convince, me or yourself ''

"Am OK... You don't have to worry about me "

"I understand how you feel, Randy let you down and I think you are allowed to feel betrayed and disappointed "

"He worked with me for three years.I doubt if there's anything about me that he doesn't know... Was I such a bad boss to him"

"Of course not, have worked with you for three months and I know you are not a bad person. Randy was just selfish and unreasonable, he choose to be a disloyal and greedy person. That's not your fault"

"You are just saying all this to make me feel better "

''Well is it working... "
They both laughed and shook their heads at Sam's sarcasm

"But sincerely. You should never doubt yourself because someone doesn't appreciate or recognize your efforts enough.. You know deep down that you did all you could for him. This is just how humans are. Some just reciprocate evil more than the others "

"Sam the philosopher... Am intrigued "

"Ohhh please, this is only the tip of the iceberg "
Sam teased as she pulled out the pill bottle from her pocket and took another pill

"Heyyyy...... What's with the pills Blackbelt "

"Huh" sam rubbed her hand against her neck, she could still feel her head heavily than her whole body. The pills help relieve the pain but only for a short while

"You have swallowed four to five pills in the last two hours...... I don't think that's normal "

"I didn't realize you've been counting doctor " she retorted and looked away

"Am just worried. You look really pale "

"Am fine Harvey.. It nothing "

"Sam You are not fine.... You haven't slept a wink since yesterday "
If only he knew she doesn't even sleep at all....
"You didn't eat anything at the diner too.... You were too busy interrogating Randy. I think you need to rest. Pills are not going to cut it "

"Seriously Harvey. It no big deal. I just use them as boosters, besides I have like major insomnia I rarely ever sleep so.... That's not it, and by now you should know I don't fancy food that much "

"If You are so fine..... Why do you need pills as boosters "

"Graaaahghhh, can you just let this one slide"

"Hmmmmmn No, You are not a machine you need rest and it not even up for a debate"

"Okayyyy fine ..... I'll rest when we leave move to the next town" sam grumbled
