Alexandra Horan's Audition
*Alexandra's POV*
"Plus it's pretty cool to come back here." Grandpa added, probably not even realizing what he said because he earned some elbows from everyone else. Even though I have no idea what that comment meant.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Alexandra Horan, you're on deck." The staff member called out, meaning I wasn't going to get my answer because Theo, Aunt Denise, Uncle Greg, grandpa, and grandma all let out a huge sigh of relief.
"We'll tell you when you're ready." Uncle Greg whispered in my ear as we followed the staff member.
I nodded simply as we apprached the stage. I wonder what Grandpa was talking about when he said it was pretty cool to be back here.
"Alex, can you stop biting your nails. You're going to be fine." Theo told me as we approached side stage.
"Sorry, just a bit nervous." I replied before being taken away from my family by the staff members.
Before going on stage, they handed me a microphone, told me some instructions, and then basically pushed me out on stage. Luckily the staff members provided me a guitar because I didn't want dad to start questioning me as I was leaving the house this morning. When I was walking out on stage, I noticed that Ed Sheeran, Simon Cowell, and Katy Perry were the judges. Well, this doesn't make me even more nervous or anything.
"Hello." I said to the judges once I was on stage.
"Hello sweetie, what's your name?" Ed asked me with a small smile.
"My name is Alexandra Horan, but everyone calls me Alex." I replied with a smile. I noticed as I was saying my name that Simon and Ed had gone wide-eyed. But their eyes went back to normal as quickly as they came.
"And how old are you Alex?" Katy asked me.
As I was about to answer the next question, I noticed that Simon was looking at me very strangely and it's getting me very nervous. But I guess I just have to ignore it.
"I am 17 years old." I responded.
"And who's here with you?" Simon asked, finally speaking.
"My cousin, my aunt and uncle and my grandpa and grandma." I answered in a little confusion.
"For the love of Pete, Simon, what does that have to do with anything to do with this girls auditions?" Katy asked in annoyance.
"You'll see later." Simon said to Katy before turning back to me. "And what are the name of your cousin?" Simon asked me.
"Theo." I answered with a little more confusion.
"Thank you. That's all I needed to know." Simon replied.
"Anyway, what song are you going to be singing for us today?" Katy asked.
"I'm actually going to be singing 'The A Team' by Ed Sheeran." I said with a bright smile.
"Can't wait to hear it." Ed said with a huge smile right before I started strumming the guitar.
"White lips, pale face
Breathing in snowflakes
Burnt lungs, sour taste
Light's gone, day's end
Struggling to pay rent
Long nights, strange menAnd they say
She's in the Class A Team
Stuck in her daydream
Been this way since eighteen
But lately her face seems
Slowly sinking, wasting
Crumbling like pastries
And they scream
The worst things in life come free to us
'Cause we're just under the upper hand
And go mad for a couple grams
And she don't want to go outside tonight
And in a pipe she flies to the Motherland
Or sells love to another man
It's too cold outside
For angels to fly
Angels to fly
