I crossed my arms over my chest like a child in Michael's passenger seat, while he mentally beat himself up for his actions. He continued to whisper apologies, to which I shook my head.

"HEATHER." He brought the car to a stop in the middle of the road, luckily it was late and there wasn't another car in sight.

"What?!" His shout caused me to jump in my seat.

"I'm fucking sorry. Okay? I'm sorry I was being a jerk. I just thought you didn't want me and I want going to let some guy steel MY girl." He stared at me without blinking.

"Well it's not my fault you were jealous." The car was too dark for him to see me roll my eyes. He sighed, clearly frustrated and put the car in drive. I laid my head against the window before passing out.

I woke up in Michael's arms outside of his front door. He was struggling with the lock and cussed under his breath. I pretended to be asleep and hid my small smile on his chest. His cologne was so comforting and I decided it was my favorite smell.

Michael climbed his stairs in the dark, bumping into the wall at the top. He kicked his door open and sat me down on his bed. I opened my eyes and looked up at him.

"Uh you probably don't want to sleep in jeans. Here, sleep in this." He slid his blue t-shirt over his head and offered it to me. I tried desperately not to stare, but I couldn't help myself.

"I'll let you change, I'll be back." He closed the door softly and walked down the hall. I slid off my jeans and shirt and slipped his on. The hem of his shirt reached to the middle of my thigh and it hung off of my body loosely. Michael appeared a few minutes later shirtless with black sweatpants that hung off of his hips. He made it so hard to keep my eyes off of him.

He stood on the other side of the room, taking in my appearance.

"No. I think that's too hot. You gotta put on something else." He bit his lip and walked towards me.

"Shut up and come to bed, I'm tired." I pulled the covers over my shoulders and closed my eyes. I felt Michael's arm slide across my waist, and even though I wanted to push it off, I didn't. I was almost asleep when I heard Michael talking.

"Are you asleep?" I didn't reply.

"Well, I'll take that as a yes. I just...I don't know how to say stuff like this unless you're asleep I guess. I just need you to know that you are possibly the best thing that has happened to me. It hurts me that you thought I just wanted you for sex, because Jesus Heather, I love everything about you. I can't help that you're hot." I could almost here his smirk.

"I'm also sorry for being a jerk at I Hop. I've got jealously issues I guess." He ran his fingers through my hair and sighed. Every part of me was relieved by his word, but part of me was disappointed he wouldn't say this to me when he thought I was awake. My mind swarmed and my eye lids grew heavy thanks to his reassurance.

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.

I jolted out of bed and ran down the stairs when the fire alarm blared through the house. I ran into the kitchen in search of Michael. Uncontrollable laughter overcame me when I found him waving his arms over the black smoke that rose from the skillet on the stove. I clutched my stomach as I continued to laugh, though Michael didn't take notice.

"What the heck are you doing?" I said between giggles.

"I was trying to make you breakfast." He opened the back door and tossed the pan into the back yard, causing me to cry from all of the laughter.

"Thanks for trying." I threw my arms around his neck and planted a kiss on his cheek. He picked he up and sat me down on the counter.

"Are we okay?" He pressed his forehead to mine.

"You make it kinda hard to be mad." I pinched the end of my nose to block the smell of burnt bacon.

He kissed my forehead and sighed.

"What's wrong?" I could tell he was trying to find a way to tell me something.

"My parents called. They need me to fly out to their beach house for a couple of days." He explained.

"Oh. When are you going?" I started to panic on the inside, it was too soon to go back home to my parents.

"Well. WE are leaving tomorrow. I rented us a beach house and I invited everyone." He smiled wide.

"OH MY GOSH. NO WAY?!???" I jumped down from the counter and wrapped my arms around Michael again.

"I'm serious! So I was hoping you'd stop by your house when your parents are home and pack some of your clothes." Michael's eyes lit up as he continued to talk.

"Of course. I still can't believe this." I shook my head. He tapped his finger on his cheek asking for a kiss, and when I leaned in he turned his head, causing our lips to touch instead. I smacked his arm and ran upstairs to get my shoes.

When I came back down Michael was standing by the door with keys in hand. As soon as my parents left, we pulled into the driveway and packed half of my closet into a suitcase. The fight we had before wasn't even on my mind anymore, all I could think about was how excited yet scared I was. I was terrified of heights, but at least I was going to have Michael there with me.
