That very night, at 12:30AM, after hours of careful planning with Nick and getting prepared, Nick Wilde and Kane Karter, still in his male, deer disguise, were right outside the museum and were hidden in some bushes. Nick Wilde was wearing a black mask as he didn't want anyone to know that he was involved with the robbery if he and Kane got caught in the act.

Kane explained that their first step was to get to the roof of the museum. Nick asked Kane how they were going to do that. Kane already had that figured out.

Despite knowing what would happen, Kane Karter used his ability to create things out of thin air to make a barely visible grappling hook attached to a long rope appear and he then tossed it up to the roof, where it caught on to something. While it hurt Kane whenever he used this power, it didn't hurt or tire him out nearly as much as it had to create that road that he and Nick had used to escape the ZPD.

This was because smaller things hurt him less and used up less of his energy. Plus, Kane had gotten better at using his power since when he had used it before back in those flashbacks he had told Nick about. Even a tree wasn't too much for Kane anymore! So, he could afford to create and have a grappling hook attached to a long rope for a little while.

Using said grappling hook and rope, Kane climbed to the top of the museum and soon ended up on the roof. Nick reached the roof too soon after and once they both were on the roof, Kane made the grappling hook and the rope disappear, fully restoring all his energy and making any pain that he had been experiencing vanish.

Kane and Nick then went through an air vent on the roof that was just big enough for them to crawl through and they used that to enter the museum and get closer to where the cuckoo clock was. They didn't stop until they reached the end of the air vent before they opened it up carefully and found themselves just two rooms away from where they needed to be.

There were just two problems. The first being that there were security beams all over the place that would set off alarms immediately if Kane or Nick or anything else made any contact with them. The second and other problem was that there was another security feature that detected sound levels and if they or anything else made a loud noise, this would also set off the museum's alarms and security.

But Kane and Nick were prepared for this.

Using his training from his past, Kane completely and quickly got past all the security beams without making any noise as if he was a ninja, while Nick stayed where he was, but also managed to stay out of sight as there was also security cameras around the museum. Then Kane reached the museum's security room, where two security guards were watching the monitors and hadn't seen Kane and Nick. Kane snuck up on them and knocked both of them out to ensure that they wouldn't get in the way while he and Nick were there to get the cuckoo clock.

After doing this, Kane shut off all the security beams and turned off the monitors and security cameras. He didn't turn off the sound alarms as he discovered that if he turned off all the security systems, there was a extra security feature in place that would automatically set off the alarms anyway as a museum having no security at all would be very suspicious and the guys running the museum had clearly thought of this.

Kane knew he could disable that security feature too with some more time, but he decided against it. The less time he and Nick spent in that museum, the better!

Kane then left the security room and made his way back to Nick and gave him the all clear to continue following him, but warned him that the sound alarm feature was still in place and as such, they had to still not make any noise. He and Kane then headed to the room in the middle of the museum and soon found themselves standing before the glass case where the small, cuckoo clock was at.

'Bingo!' Kane thought.

Kane then used his power again and created a tool with which he used to cut a small hole that would be big enough to fit the cuckoo clock through. However, the hole was too small for Kane to reach through, so Nick would have to get it instead.

Nick didn't want to, but if Kane could really help him find that wolf that had wronged him, he was willing to do almost whatever it took to clear his name. Nick slowly reached through the hole and grabbed the cuckoo clock.

Everything seemed to be going well until Nick did one of the last things he and Kane wanted him to do at a time like this: he sneezed! "Achooo!" Nick sneezed.

Unfortunately, this sneeze was just loud enough to activate the sound alarms and as Kane and Nick had feared, the whole museum was filled with sounds of alarms going off! To make matters worse, Kane and Nick saw all possible exits in and out of the museum, including the air vents, be sealed off with reinforced steel coverings.

Kane could break though those with his powers and training, but that would take too long and the police and would be at the museum to investigate any minute! In fact, they already were as Kane and Nick could hear the sounds off police sirens coming from outside the museum and see red and blue police lights flashing on and off!

Kane and Nick both knew it must be the ZPD! They even heard someone using a megaphone calling out to them and ordering them to surrender and that they were surrounded!

"Oh, shit!" Kane said in a frustrated and annoyed tone of voice as he took the cuckoo clock from Nick and tried to find another way out, but didn't see any. While Kane was a tough opponent and could hold his own in a fight, he couldn't afford to take on an entire squadron of police officers without putting Nick in danger too!

"Crap!" Nick cried out in fear before he turned to face Kane. "What are we going to do!?"

Kane wasn't sure exactly how to answer that. He just knew that things weren't looking very good for him and Nick!
