Tempest Ankareeda .point of view
" I will take the ring", cried Frodo, that one line that every lord of the rings fan knows, and I just got to hear it in person.
...................... Three years earlier"Mom I'm only going to be two hours away", I told her as we finished packing my car.
" I know, I just can't believe my little hurricane is going to college so soon", she said hugging me tighter.
"Darling, it is not like we can not visit", said my dad with a mischievous grin," especially if our Star finds her self a boyfriend."
" Well then I'll be sure to tell you right away if I find one", I said sarcastically looking into both my father's pure black and my mother's constantly changing but now yellow-green eyes. "But I have got to get going or it will be dark before I get there", I said looking at my watch before hugging them one last time and waving the twins good bye before jumping in my car. "Love you", I yelled out the window as I drove away from our house. I quickly put my Pandora on shuffle as I drove through the small town, I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous, I was starting college at 17 for crying out loud, but I was also excited. Though when one of the songs from my Howard Shore station, my thoughts drifted towards my favorite story, Lord of the rings, not that I was one of those goofy fan girls that fell head over heels with one of the characters, but I did admire their bravery, and I did enjoy a good fanfic about them, well as long as they got their facts straight. Lost in thought I almost forgot to pull up my GPS, my parents had a small cabin about twenty minutes from campus, so I would be staying there, they had insisted saying it was safer than staying in some random apartments at 17. " well Temp, you are officially a college student", I said to myself as I drove down the road.
............... About two hours laterStretching as I got out of the car I began to collect my stuff from the trunk, when there was a flash of light. Then it went black, and when I awoke I couldn't see my car anywhere.
*sigh* 'guess that means someone probably knocked me out and stole it', I thought as I tried to sit up only to find my self in what looked to be the middle of the woods,' maybe they thought they killed me and hid my body out here so they wouldn't get caught', I wondered. Standing up I realized that I wasn't in the the same outfit as before, I looked like I was in rags, like the same type of outfit Dobby wore in Harry Potter, but there was also something strange about my body, not that physically it had changed in any way, but I felt strangely different. Thinking this was someone's cruel game, I began checking my body for anything strange, but it was exactly how it was before, except two details one my black hair that had always been down to my waist now went to my knees and it had taken on an impossibly blue shine, two being that my ears were now pointy. Well, maybe that was three details. Not quite sure what I should do I decided to sit down and get my priorities figured out when my hand came across something wonderfully familiar, my phone and purse. Holding my phone up to my face I turned on selfie mode to check my face, I mean with everything that had happened I had to make sure nobody tattooed something strange on my face, but what I saw was more of a shock than that. I had always been somewhat pretty, but it looked like I was looking at a different person, I didn't look any older but it was like evey thing that might have been wrong with my face was gone, except for my rather strange birthmark on my cheeks just under the corner of my right eye that had always resembled a star, not that I was upset about that as I truly love that mark. As I looked I realized that my eyes which changed like my mom's, seemed to be swirling with different colors in confusion, but deciding I had spent much to much time looking at my face I stood up. Glad that my height didn't seem to have changed, I smiled before trying to pull up Google maps, let just say I got nothing so I picked a direction and started walking making special markers as I went. I walked for what felt like two hours before I found a small river, and decided it was best to follow it, so that I would at least have some water. It was another two hours before I decided to stop for the night, closing my eye I said a quick prayer, then wondered if my family even knew what happened, I thought of how my parents and younger siblings would be heartbroken if I didn't get home, that was my last thought before sleep took me.
*in a dream* "I'm sorry little one that I had to take you from your home", said a strange, but kind voice,"but I had to pass on my abilities. I truly hope you will find you way back with all that you care for. Good bye little one and don't worry you body is the equivalent of 17 for an elf, I only changed it so it could withstand what I've given you."
.....................the next morning
Tempest Ankareeda.point of viewI woke to the smell of smoke, thinking that it was either a forest fire, or a camper, I checked the wind to see if it carried heat. When it didn't, I decided it was a camper, so I went towards it.
"Yes,yes, yes!" I exclaimed when it was a camp, shaking my hands in the air in excitement, when I heard a voice come from behind me and felt something touch my back. So I dropped to the ground in a position that would hide the fact that I was reaching my hand into my purse hoping that I still had my multi tool knife, before saying, " I sorry for coming into your camp, but I was lost, and was hoping you could spare me just a little of your food."
" who are you?" Was what I got for an answer.
"Oh, sorry My name is Tempest Ankareeda", I answered truthfully, " though since I told you mine you should tell me yours, random guy whose camping in the woods."
" you may call me Strider", he answered then put away whatever be was holding. Thinking now was a good time to actually look at him I got off the ground. He was tall, very tall, with dark hair cut around his shoulders, with gray eyes that made him look older than he appeared. "tempest is a very strange name for a she-elf", he said as I sat up.
" yeah well Strider sounds like something from a fantasy story, actually it is a character from one of my favourites", I shot back before I realized he had called me an elf and everything clicked.
