"This reminds me of something the twins and I built when I was a child", Tempest whispered to both Frodo and I. Which seemed to calm the hobbit down a bit.
"Welcome!'", the quendë(elf) then said again in the Common Language, speaking slowly. "We seldom use any tongue but our own; for we dwell now in the heart of the forest, and do not willingly have dealings with any other folk. Even our own kindred in the North are sundered from us. But there are some of us still who go abroad for the gathering of news and the watching of our enemies, and they speak the languages of other lands. I am one. Haldir is my name. My brothers, Rúmil and Orophin, speak little of your tongue. But we have heard rumours of your coming, for the messengers of Elrond passed by Lórien on their way home up the Dimrill Stair. We had not heard of hobbits, or halflings, for many a long year, and did not know that any yet dwelt in Middle-earth. You do not look evil! And since you come with an Elf of our kindred, we are willing to befriend you, as Elrond asked; though it is not our custom to lead strangers through our land. But you must stay here tonight. How many are you?", he asked.
"Nine", I answered," two elves, lady Nightstar and my self, four hobbits; and two men, one of whom, Aragorn, is an Elf-friend of the folk of Westernesse.'
'The name of Aragorn son of Arathorn is known in Lórien,' said Haldir, 'and he has the favour of the Lady. All then is well. But you have yet spoken only of eight.'
'The ninth is a dwarf,' I said.
'A dwarf! ' said Haldir. 'That is not well. We have not had dealings with the Dwarves since the Dark Days. They are not permitted in our land. I cannot allow him to pass.'
"See this is why old hurts never get better", said Tempest with an edge in her voice that said she might start throwing knives. " As old and "wise" as we elves are, you can't seem to ever get over the past. I get it many of you where there, and you have lost people, but guess what so did the dwarves, and Its not like we elves haven't made our fair share of messes. So don't you dare miss treat Gimli for something, that not even his Grandfather was alive to see", she hissed, before she sat down sharply, playing with one of her knives. They looked shocked, her outburst was nearly unheard of for most elves, and though her knife looked sharp, her eyes sharper. I placed my hand on her shoulder to calm her, as did Frodo. She sighed softly as we did and spoke again," I apologize for my outburst, but I will stick to what I said. As long as we may live if we can not learn the lessons of forgiveness, then all the knowledge in the world can not make us wise." She looked somewhat different as she said it, and although she may still be quite young, she has seen many things and her words were among the wisest I have heard. Perhaps I should take them to heart, I wondered.

Tempest Ankareeda.point of view" I apologize for my outburst, but I will stick to what I said. As long as we may live if we can not learn the lessons of forgiveness, then all the knowledge in the world can not make us wise", quoting one of the first lessons I had ever learned from my church. One of my Sunday school teachers had told my class that, and to the day Chris died it was his favorite quote. Finally Haldir spoke.
"I apologize, Lady Nightstar, but he may not pass."
"But he is from the Lonely Mountain, one of Dáin's trusty people, and friendly to Elrond," said Frodo. "Elrond himself allowed him to be one of our companions, and he has been brave and faithful."
The Elves spoke together in soft voices, and questioned Legolas in their own tongue. "Very good," said Haldir at last. "We will do this, though it is against our liking. If Aragorn and Legolas will guard him, and answer for him, he shall pass; but he must go blindfold through Lothlórien. But now we must debate no longer. Your folk must not remain on the ground. We have been keeping watch on the rivers, ever since we saw a great troop of Orcs going north toward Moria, along the skirts of the mountains, many days ago. Wolves are howling on the wood's borders. If you have indeed come from Moria, the peril cannot be far behind. Tomorrow early you must go on. The four hobbits shall climb up here and stay with us-we do not fear them! There is another talan in the next tree. There the others must take refuge. You, Legolas, must answer to us for them. Call us, if anything is amiss! And have an eye on that dwarf!"
Legolas at once went down the ladder to take Haldir's message; and soon afterwards Merry and Pippin clambered up on to the high talan. They were out of breath and seemed rather scared.
"There!" said Merry panting. "We have lugged up your blankets as well as our own. Strider has hidden all the rest of the baggage in a deep drift of leaves."
"You had no need of your burdens," said Haldir. "It is cold in the tree-tops in winter, though the wind tonight is in the South; but we have food and drink to give you that will drive away the night-chill, and we have skins and cloaks to spare."
"I'll pass, I'm heading to the other talan. I'll be more comfortable sleeping among males I know", I said before whispering to the hobbits," I'm sorry that I cannot stay but their breathing would be much to loud for me to sleep." The second I finished talking the hobbits all started laughing, to which the three elves gave me a strange look.
"Its all Miss us hobbits understand", said Sam," I myself sleep better on the ground, and would be there too, if it weren't for the Orcs."

Legolas.point of viewI informed the others of the arrangements as soon as my feet hit the ground, and stayed where I could see the hobbits until they were up safely. But I had already climbed in to the other talan, by the time I saw Tempest come our way.
"I thought you were staying with the hobbits, and elves of Lórien ", I said as she climbed through the entrance.
"Na, I prefer the company of people I know, plus I wouldn't be able to dream among them, after all I have a terrible time sleeping among anyone especially people I don't know well", she answered.
"I was not aware of that, La-", I started.
"Tempest, please", she said before looking at everyone," that goes for all of you, except Gimli I don't mind being called lass, because It reminds me of my grandfather."
"Why so lass", the Dwa-Gimli asked.
"Well he had a habit of calling everyone lad or lass, being from i-" she stopped her self," oops", she mumbled.
" Lady Tempest how is it that you will sleep better among us than the quiet elves", asked Boromir.
"I know you better, and have gotten used to your breathing patterns", she stated.
