That night
Same view"His strength returns", said Elrond solemnly, as I snuck silently towards the pavilion where they were talking.
"That wound will never fully heal. He will carry it the rest of his life", stated Gandalf. Oh they're talking about Frodo.
"Yet to have come so far still bearing the Ring ... the Hobbit has shown extraordinary resilience to its evil", said Elrond with respect.
"It is a burden he should never have had to bear. We can ask no more of Frodo", said Gandalf.
"Gandalf, the enemy is moving. Sauron's forces are massing in the East. His Eye is fixed on Rivendell. And Saruman, you tell me, has betrayed us. Our list of allies grows thin" ,Elrond returned.
"His treachery runs deeper than you know. By foul craft, Saruman has crossed Orcs with Men ... He's breeding an army in the caverns of Isengard. An army that can move in Sunlight and cover great distance at
speed. Saruman is coming for the Ring", stated Gandalf, as he says so Elrond turns to walk away."This evil cannot be concealed by the power of the Elves... We do not have the strength to fight both Mordor and Isengard ... Gandalf ... the Ring cannot stay here", Elrond whispers, as Gandalf looks towards the garden, where the embassy of the many people are riding in. "This peril belongs to all Middle-Earth. They must decide now how to end it", he states as he walks toward Gandalf. "The time of the Elves is over. My people are leaving these shores. Who will you look to when we've gone? The Dwarves? They hide in their mountains seeking riches. They care nothing for the troubles of others", he asked.
"It is in Men that we must place our hope", Gandalf says quietly.
"Men? Men are weak. The race of Men is failing. The blood of Númenor is all but spent, its pride and dignity forgotten. It is because of Men the Ring survives. I was there, Gandalf. I was there three thousand years ago when Isildur took the Ring. I was there when the day the strength of Men failed.", he says with pain in his voice." I led Isildur into the heart of Mount Doom, where the Ring was forged: the
one place it could be destroyed. It should have ended that day, but evil was allowed to endure. Isildur kept the Ring ... and the line of kings was broken. There's no strength left in the world of Men. They are scattered, divided, leaderless", he says sadly."There is one who could unite them, one
who could reclaim the throne of Gondor", said Gandalf."He turned from that path a long time ago. He has chosen exile", stated Elrond just before I fall out of the tree I was listening in. They both jump, and turned towards me, as soon as Elrond sees me he pinches his nose, and sighs.
"It seems your Apprentice is quite the curious young elf", says Gandalf laughing.
"It would seem", he sighs," It seems I should just invited you to the counsel, as If I do not you would be there anyway." I smile happily as soon as he says it, seeing my smile he says," though that seems to have be your point." i just nod and walk away. As I'm running through the garden I run head first in to someone.
"Mime apologies, Mellon
(My apologies, friend)", I said not looking up." it is fine, but children should watch what they're doing", say the elf. That hit a sore spot, I know I'm short for an elf, but really, upset I just push past him not even bothering to look at his face. When I reach the door I turned back and said.
" I understand It is just a misunderstanding, but I Am An Adult", putting emphasis on the last words before walking into a very awkward conversation between Aragorn and Boromir.
"......friend", said Boromir just as I walked in. Deciding to end the awkward silence I said.
"Ar-Strider, do you mind introducing your "friend"", I asked hoping Boromir didn't catch my slip of the tongue, he did.
