There was one one more stop that had been carefully planned by Jimin, it was a little outdoor champagne picnic in a secluded corner of Beamosa park, pretty close to the gallery. Yoongi had been ahead and sorted the area with candles and the champagne chilling in a bucket of ice as he waited for them at the gallery. This had been the final straw for Yoongi, it had finished him off emotionally and so there was nothing left to do but shut down and hope for this horrible night to end soon.
The limo was silent as though Yoongi's sadness washed over all of them and no one knew quite what to say, luckily the ride was short and the limo seemed to come to a stop pretty quickly. Without speaking, Yoongi exited and opened the passenger door for Jungkook, the cocky attitude from earlier completely gone. Jungkook was a little taken aback by Yoongi's change in attitude and the look of defeat in the boys eyes. Yoongi quickly averted his gaze and jumped back into the limo before Jimin reached them on the passenger side. His nerves were raw and he was on the edge of a precipice, one look from the boy he harboured all of these unspoken feelings for would undoubtedly open the wound deeper and ruin their friendship for good. Jimin was concerned for his friend, but needed this last part to go to plan before the inevitable party Taehyung was hosting. He took one last look at the boy behind the steering wheel who would not meet his eyes, before escorting his date to their destination on foot.
Yoongi watched as Jimin and Jungkook disappeared into the park towards the little romantic scene which he himself had orchestrated, what a joke, what a fool he thought wryly. The self directed epithets pounded into his head with a merciless rhythm only a rapper could produce. He exited the limo, lighting up then throwing away the cigarette he really didn't want, the habit making him wince in annoyance. He examined himself in the side mirror of the limo, to look for some thread of quality, but all it bounced back was the plain pale expression of a boy not good enough to be loved by the person he held on that pedestal. Jimin deserved someone like Jungkook, warm, friendly, easy to love. Not this tattooed, bad tempered freak, all trussed up like a bloody sideshow attraction, what had he been thinking?
He felt like he'd betrayed himself covering up his tattoos and attempting to dress like he thought Jungkook would in order to get Jimin to at least notice him in that way. Jungkook could never know him like he did, never understand him. He gritted his teeth to hold back the overwhelming emotion that was rising up from under his rib cage. He'd never felt pain like this, when he saw his dad drop dead all he felt was relief, it was the end of a childhood filled with black eyes and broken bones. When the woman who gave birth to him finally decided that he was no longer important enough to stick around for, he felt relief, and through it all there was one constant, the one keeping him sane and providing his darkened days with sunshine, his Jimin, it had always been, and would always be him.
Suddenly a solitary tear escaped, leaking out from between a clenched eyelid. The last time he'd allowed himself to cry properly other than with Namjoon on the dock, he'd been really small. He'd reconditioned that part of his brain not to react through the years. This time the dam broke, he sobbed and let the tears fall, a deep cry ragged and unrehearsed, full of snot and saliva and so foreign even to his own ears. After a while he felt better, snuffled back a few sobs and dabbed away the wetness with some of the left over napkins from the barbeque bag Jimin had given him.
He shook himself out of his dark hole now that the gob of emotion had been choked out and began to think more clearly. Jimin would never leave him, no matter who came and went from his life. He could have a thousand lovers, but Yoongi would always be the one he would come back to for comfort. If Jimin had to remain his brother for the rest of his life, then surely that was better than no Jimin at all? Besides, he could always kill Jungkook and bury him under a temple somewhere. The thought made him chuckle, he wasn't worth doing time for he decided as he glanced over towards the entrance of the park, phase three of the date now in full swing.
