Speaker:
"Sorry for the wait you guys!"

The speaker blared throughout the room, causing some people to cover their ears. After a short while, it turned off again.

???:
"You all know exactly why you're here."

A black and white bear appeared, supposedly out of nowhere. Every person in this room, with no doubt whatsoever, knew who this bear was, and I was no exception. The face of Danganronpa; Monokuma.

Monokuma:
"Honestly, I didn't think anyone would've shown up this time! I mean, joining a killing game? You must be either crazy, suicidal or both. Either way, I'm glad you signed up!

We all exchanged glances as if to read each other's minds.

Bukiyōya Hito (thinking...)
Just cut to the chase already! We know why we are here!

Monokuma:
"Well, I assume that you all have talked at least briefly to every person. Look at you, so confident and chivalrous! I guess now would be the best time to introduce the first motive, don't you think?"

I bit my lip. Our first motive? Well, I guess they have to get us ready for the game as quickly as possible.

Monokuma:
"It is simple. I told a relative of yours' to give me a short message about this killing game. Also, I compiled every person's into a clip. Of course, there is no sound, so you better be a fast reader!"

A projector mounted to the ceiling suddenly lit up a bright blue and started projecting a black screen with white text over the top of it. First came my name.

Video Clip:
"Bukiyōya Hito; the Ultimate Klutz.
You had the nerve to apply to a killing game? What were you thinking?"

It kept rambling on and on about why I shouldn't have entered the game. It finished after a while. Almost immediately afterwards, Tetsudzuki's clip played next. It was a message announcing 'good luck'. I was quite jealous of her. This cycle repeated over most of the students, but after it all, one stood out to me so explicitly.

Video Clip:
"XXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXX; the Ultimate XXX
I know that you think I'm dead. But, surprise, I'm not! I know where you are and I'm coming to get you. Get out of that horrid school and return to Mother and Father. It's time to come home, XXXXXXXXXXX."

I wasn't paying enough attention to pinpoint exactly who was given that message, but I could easily guess based on the content and their sudden absence. Maigo had disappeared from the Gym. In addition to that, the door had flung wide open, and I could still hear footsteps pounding down the hallway. The entire class stood still in shock, thinking exactly what I thought at that moment in time. For a while, I just waited there, quietly muttering my apologies. I finally decided to chase after him. I knew it wasn't a long way to go, but I still ran.

I didn't know where I was going, but I still kept running, for no reason whatsoever. After a while, I arrived at the end of the corridor, finding Maigo screaming and crying while scraping his nails against the immovable, metal door.

Maigo Impeishin:
"I don't want t-to stay here! L-Let me go!

I placed my arm on his shoulder.

Bukiyōya Hito:
"Look, we all know how serious this is. If you want to kill someone, do so, but please know that we will not let you live after the trial so easily. How about we survive this together and you can go back to your family?"

He turned his head to face me and smiled.

Maigo Impeishin:
"I guess we can do that... Just promise me that you'll survive to the end!"

Bukiyōya Hito:
"I can't promise, but I'll do my best."

We stood up and walked back to the Gym, talking about our recent struggles in our new life. We signed up for this, so we had better make it a somewhat useful experience. When we arrived at our destination, everyone was still waiting there, watching us as we came through the double-doors.

Tetsudzuki Genkaku:
"I know that family for you is a painful subject, but you have to forget about it for now. Remember where we are; a killing game! If you are so attached to your family and want to leave, you're going to do what Monokuma wants us to do."

Maigo Impeishin:
"Oh, it's fine! I'll try my best to ignore it as much as possible, though it is hard. For all I know, my sister is dead and there was no way she could've sent that message to me.

Tetsudzuki Genkaku:
"Alright, now we're back on track. Perhaps all we need to do now is calm down and not think about this new motive."
