Ding
Dong!To be completely honest, I half expected the 'Bing, Bong!' on the end, but it was just my alarm. I rubbed my eyes and sat up. 11:45 is what my bedside clock read. I stood up, still in a slight daze and wobbled my way towards the Gym.
By the time I stumbled through the doorway, Chikyū had already been pairing up the students who arrived early.
Chikyū Chōsa:
"Okay...Tetsudzuki with Ironashī, Kojin and Saki, Kōi and Hikari, please don't argue, Wakusei and Nusumu together, Kōzō and Shūchū, Sukina and Yume...Oh hey! Bukiyōya!"Bukiyōya Hito:
"Hey, Chikyū..."Chikyū Chōsa:
"You'll be going with Maigo, is that alright? He wants to separate a bit later though to explore the school further, but Shīrudo and I will monitor your behaviour."Shīrudo Mamoru:
"Yep! And you're not going to get us to leave!"Bukiyōya Hito:
"Okay, sure... When do we start?"Chikyū Chōsa:
"Well, since everyone's here, we can just start now! Go and do whatever you want, but it must be in your pairs!"Some of the groups filed out of the door, some fond of this new plan, some not as much. As for myself, I didn't mind, just as long as it prevents the killing from happening.
Maigo Impeishin:
"Where should we go first?"Bukiyōya Hito:
"How about we just walk around and talk. It doesn't really matter where we go."I opened the door, letting him through before following him. We started walking through the corridor, talking about our opinions about the game. He was obviously on edge the entire time.
Maigo Impeishin:
"I am not sure what I think... This game is not what I thought it would be like."Bukiyōya Hito:
"What did you think it would be like? They do alter it slightly on television to keep the ratings down. But was there anything that stuck out to you?"Maigo Impeishin:
"There is murder. Actual murder, just to satisfy the viewers of the show! It's all wrong!"Bukiyōya Hito:
"I can see where you're coming from... I'm not too bothered by it, at least not now since no one has died yet. Maybe you should just lighten up and relax."Maigo Impeishin:
"You know that I can't do that!"By now, we had reached the end of the hallway, which now divided into two new corridors; the left and right wings. I turned left towards the classrooms and outdoor area, hoping that Maigo would follow. It was at that point that I met Kōi and Hikari, not speaking at all to each other.
Bukiyōya Hito:
"Uhm... Hello?"Hikari seemed to jump when I spoke. Kōi appeared to be distracted with something else, even after my encounter.
Hikari Yami:
"You shouldn't scare people like that! For goodness sake...do you have any respect for your peers?"Bukiyōya Hito:
"Of course I do! I'm just making sure that you guys are okay with being partners in the first place!"Maigo, who was still behind me, chimed into this conversation with his own statement.
Maigo Impeishin:
"I-I have to go...to my room, that is."I nodded my head and told him that I would catch up with him a bit later. Unfortunately, because we split up, we are both in danger.
Kōi Yorokobi:
"You know that guy?-"He directed his index finger towards Maigo, who was walking towards the dorms by now.
Kōi Yorokobi:
"He's too weak for his own good. He's so obvious with his emotions. He even stutters when he's nervous!"Bukiyōya Hito:
"Look, that doesn't mean anything at all! He's compassionate...and intelligent. It makes up for him not being too physically strong..."Kōi Yorokobi:
"Yes, of course. The klutz is telling me what to do... You have nothing compared to Maigo or even myself!"Bukiyōya Hito:
"That may be true, but at least I have common sense and a grasp of what's going on!"Hikari Yami:
"Stop this already! This is no time for arguing! Bukiyōya, just get back to Maigo, alright. It's risky to just let you both walk around with no defence."Kōi Yorokobi (muttering...)
"With their physical strengths, I doubt they had ' defence' in the first place..."🔥 DEATH WARNING 🔥
I slowly walked in Maigo's direction, heading to his dormitory. Everything was calm, almost too calm, but I shrugged it off, considering how heated the argument had gotten earlier. The change in the atmosphere must have been a lot for me. With every step, I felt as if I was getting heavier and heavier, sinking into the ground with absolute force.
The door was unlocked and narrowly ajar, so it was rather easy to pry open.
Bukiyōya Hito:
"Maigo..? Are you in here?"No one replied. I was about to turn back, but something had caught my eye; a large pool of blood near the bedside, sprawling it's way up the sheets. I was extremely curious at this point. Maigo wasn't the type of person to play such an elaborate prank such as this. I took a step in the room, with a half-open door and held my hand over my mouth, just in case.
He was there. But he wasn't alive, at least I didn't think so. I knew people who created scenes like this for the theatrics, but I wasn't particularly sure if Maigo would do the same. His stomach had a sort of bladed item through it. I looked at him for a solid five seconds before reacting, tears streaming down my face as I kept my hand on my mouth. Leaning down, I shook him repeatedly, this time screaming. His eyes were open and rolled upwards and his hands were bloody and still. This was no form of prank as I know of it.
Bukiyōya Hito:
"Maigo! Wake up! Just wake up, please! Please just tell me this is a joke and get up right now...please just wake up..."There was nothing I could do about it, he was dead.
