"I don't see anyone," people on the radio continued talking.
"They're too fast."
"I hit them! I think I hit them!"
"Do you see it or don't you?" Raven asked as they continued to look.
"No. It's a mess down here."
"It'll be orange. Look harder. You have to find the wire that connects the manual override to the electromagnet. It's not rocket science."
"It is rocket science actually," Clarke told her.
"Well, at least dropship science," Alia shrugged.
"Guess we finally found something you're not good at," Raven told her.
"In her defense, I can't find it either," Alia tried to help Clarke.
"I used to be picked first for everything," Raven continued to talk. "Earth skills, zero-g mech course. First. Everytime. So how the hell did I end up here?" She took a deep breath.
"Hey, Raven... I'd pick you first."
"We all would," Alia tacked on.
"Of course you would. I'm awesome." They smiled before continuing to look.
"Hey, I found it," Clarke said after Alia moved some wires. "Orange wire."
"About time. Now follow that wire to the override panel."
"Oh no," Alia muttered, seeing the end of the wire.
"Raven, it's fried. Totally useless. Tell me this isn't as bad as I think."
"You know how to splice a wire?"
"No."
"Then it's worse." They waited for a second before hearing her yell in pain, knowing she was moving to come and help.
"Hey, stop. Just keep talking me through it."
"I've done it before," Alia spoke up. "It's been a really long time, but just walk me through the steps again."
"They're everywhere! We need backup!" Jasper's voice came through the radio. "Raven, our mines actually worked!"
"Jasper can splice!" Raven yelled to them. Clarke looked at Alia.
"Probably a better bet than having me do it."
"Jasper," she picked up the radio, "we need you in the dropship right now."
"Negative," Bellamy's voice came over. "We can't give up the west woods."
"The west woods are fine, Bellamy. The Grounders just figured that out."
"Listen," Alia took the radio from her, "the Grounders know that it's mined and they won't risk that route anymore. We need Jasper in the dropship." They waited for a second.
"All gunners, listen up. The Grounders are not attacking. They're making us waste bullets. Don't shoot when they're running laterally."
"Jasper's right. Don't fire until you're sure it's an attack. Repeat, do not fire until you are sure."
"Clarke, hang tight. I'm on my way," Jasper said after Bellamy.
"I'll come and replace you," Alia said, climbing out of the hole. "You got this?" she asked Clarke and Raven.
"We'll be fine." She nodded and left the dropship, rushing to Bellamy's position, getting Jasper's gun on the way.
"Here they come!" Miller yelled as the Grounders rushed towards them. They shot as many as they could as they came closer and closer, but some reached them, one knocking Bellamy to the ground.
