Aakansha's POV
Kora smiled as my sister handed her our cell phone numbers, and we all hugged our goodbyes before Kora and Damon turned to leave. We turned back to our people with Matthew and I sighed, everything that happened previously today coming back to me.
Once we arrived at the village, most our warriors rushed ahead to meet their awaiting families. Saisha and I made our way to the royal house with Matthew close behind us as many of the warriors bowed their heads in respect as we passed.
As we got to the large doors of the royal house, Matthew spoke.
"Saisha, if you need anything, please let me know. I'll be here in a heartbeat." He said as she hugged him tightly, tears starting to swell in her eyes. He looked at me and added, "Both of you."
I nodded a thanks and took my sister's hand once they finished their goodbyes. Slowly, we walked in closing the big doors behind us and make our way to the kitchen. As we walked in all of the servants were waiting for us, to hear about our battle. The head servant, Simon, stepped forward asking for permission to speak. I nodded and he began slowly.
"Where is the Queen, my princess?" he asked, the other servants listening carefully.
Saisha and I shared a quick glance before I looked back at Simon and the others who waited patiently. I sighed and looked at him.
"She did not make it out of battle." I said sadly, earning a few gasps from the servants. Simon looked taken back and shocked as he looked at the ground, showing us respect by not meeting our eyes.
"I am so sorry, my princess. For you both." He said, stepping back as he lowered his head. One of the female servants, Rachel, stepped forward this time. Rachel was always like a second mother to us, always taking care of us when our mother was away on buisness.
"Let's get you girls in bed, you've had a long day." She said taking our hands and leading us to our seperate rooms.
After I changed into my night clothes I looked into my full mirror, sighing. My face was bruised and tired from battle, making me looked older. There was a soft knock on my door as I made my way to my bed, making me stop.
"Who is it?" I asked through the door before I opened it.
"It's me." A warm voice said, making me smile. I opened the door and my eyes met Hayden's. I stepped back as he came in, closing the door behind him.
"I heard what happened." He said, his eyes showing pain for me. I just nodded as tears started to well up in my eyes, threatening to fall. He silently took me in his arms and that did it. My strength broke as his arms wrapped around me, letting the tears flow freely down my cheeks onto his strong shoulder and onto his shirt.
"Shh.." He rubbed small circles on my back as he walked me over to lay me down on the bed, pulling the covers back. "Don't cry baby. It's gonna be ok. I'm here." He said as I fell asleep in his arms as he laid down next to me.
--
I woke up to my phone buzzing quietly on my nightstand. I slowly reached over to grab my phone before flipping it open, quietly answering it.
"Hello?" I asked into my phone as I waited.
"Aakansha?" I heard Kora quietly ask from the other end, making me smile.
