Matthew's POV

"I'm almost there." I said as I rolled my eyes, closing my phone. I pushed the gas as I sped down the dirt road to the base house, sighing. No one really wanted to have an audience with the boss, especially me, but somehow I got one and apparently it was urgent. The boss has a way of getting what he wants, and usually it's not too pretty.

As I pulled up to the base house, I took a deep breath stepping out of my car. The informer that had called me came outside to meet me.

"The boss is in his office." He said as I nodded to him and quickly made my way inside and up the large stairs to the boss' office, knocking on the door.

"Come in." He said as I opened the door closing it behind me as I walked up in front of his desk lacing my fingers together behind my back.

"You called?" I asked, bowing my head.

"Yes. You were the one to help the shifters escape from the northern base a few days ago, were you not?" He asked as I simply nodded my head, not saying anything.

"Good. I need something else. You remember the shifter girl, what's her name?" He paused, looking at me.

"Kora." I said, earning a smirk from him.

"Kora." He repeated. "I need her."

I stopped, looking at him with a challenging look.

"Sir?" I asked him to explain as I raised my head.

"I need her. And your the one that's going to get her for me." He said, sitting forward in his large chair.

"With all due respect Sir, I can't." I said, flexing my shoulders trying to release some of the tension I was holding.

"And why not?" He said, standing with his hands on his desk.

"She is surrounded by the witches now. I won't be able to take her without them on my back."

"You did it once before, did you not? And I'd hate to see anything happen to your family, wouldn't you?" He asked, silencing me. "Good."

I sighed, giving in. "When do you want her?" I asked, reluctant.

"Now."

Kora's POV

I shifted back, smiling as I pulled on my tank top and pajama pants. I looked over at my clock and laughed. It took me less than 3 minutes to shift into all 3 of my forms and back. I walked over to my bed and laid down on top of my covers, sighing.

I heard a sound from my window that sounded like a small thud. I ignored it until it sounded again, making me sit up, looking at my window. I got up to check what it was and it sounded again. It was a small rock being thrown against the window. I opened it, looking down at the ground, laughing.

Mathew stood in the dark looking up at me with a hand full of little rocks in his hand. He smiled, looking up at me.

"Rapunzel, let down you lovely hair." He whispered loudly, dramatically. I laughed as I shook my head, smiling. "Well, your front door was locked and I don't exactly have your number."

"Ok, let me unlock the back door." I said, turning around to head down the stairs outside my room. Before I even made it out my bed room door I heard a soft thud on my bed room floor, making me stop and turn around.

Matthew stood next to my open window with a smirk clear on his face, making me look at him in disbelief.

"How did you get all the way up to my room from the ground?"

"I'm just too fantastic." He smirked as I walked back into my room, closing and locking the door softly behind me. I plopped down on the to edge of my bed as I walked over to stand in front of him with my arms crossed.

"I don't mean to sound rude but.. Why are you here?" I asked, earning a fake look of hurt cross Matthews face.

"Ow love. I'm hurt. I would have thought you would be ecstatic to see me." He said playfully as I laughed and rolled my eyes.

"Really, Matthew." I said, still laughing a little.

"Actually, it's kinda of a serious matter." He said, instantly calming. I stopped laughing, looking at him worriedly. "I came to warn you, actually."

"About what?"

"You know when you and your brother were taken a few days ago? Well I know those people and I... I was the one who took you." He said, looking down at his fidgeting hands so he wouldn't have to look at me.

My breath froze in my throat as I took in his words. "That's why you were able to help us. You already had the key because you were the one to lock us in there in the first place." I said, my voice raising with every word. "Why?"

"My boss, Carlos, he's not a person to mess with. I didn't know you so I thought it wasn't a big deal. He threatened my family, Kora. I'm sorry, but that's why I'm here now. He sent me to take you again. He said he wants you for something. I'm not going to hurt you, but that's the thing. I'm afraid that if I don't take you now, he'll send someone else after you that's not near as gentle as me." He said, sighing. I took a step back, still trying to process everything.

"Kora, please you have to trust me. I'm not going to take you, but if he sends others..." He said, trailing off. "I don't know what he wants with you. All I know is he's got his mind set on it."

"So, what are you going to do?" I asked, still watching him carefully.

"I don't know." He said, rubbing his eyes. "I'm just going to stay low until I hear something. I just thought you needed to know." He said, slowly standing, finally looking at me. His eyes held regret as he turned towards the window to leave.

"Matthew.." I said stopping him as he turned to look at me. "Thank-" I started before he cut me off, crashing his lips onto mine. At first I couldn't breath, I couldn't move as his lips moved against mine, but after a moment my lips gained a mind of their own as they started moving against his. His left hand cupped my check as my arms immediately found their way around his neck.

His other hand trailed down my body until he found my waist, wrapping his hand around me as he pulled me to him. In the next instant, I felt the wall behind me as I was wedged between it and Matthews strong body. My breath hitched as he pressed his body flush against mine, making our lips move more fiercely than before.

Suddenly, he pushed himself back, catching me off guard. He looked at me as he tried to control his breathing, his eyes on fire as he starred at me. I took a few deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart without luck.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that." He said, taking a small step back as he spoke. He waited for me to speak, but I couldn't find any words. My lips still hummed from the feeling of being against his in such an intimate way.

"I should go." He said slowly turning to leave again. Before he leaped out the window he called over his shoulder. "Please, don't tell the witches about what I do, that I'm working for Carlos. They don't have to know yet. I'm not harming anyone." He said, trying to convince me.

"I won't." I said simply before I quickly spoke back up. "Next time we go to the meadow to learn my forms, will you come?" I asked hopefully. Slowly, he nodded, making me give a small smile.

"Of course, I'd love to." He said over his shoulder with a smile before he turned to look at my face, "Be careful, Kora. I'll be there if they come for you. I'll be there to protect you." He said before he left, leaving me standing in the cold room, the breeze coming in through the still open window.

I slowly walked over to close it, laying down underneath the covers of my bed this time, knowing I wasn't going to sleep any time soon.
