Unknown POV
"We need to hurry if we want to get out of here before their pack comes." Matthew called to me as he picked the girl up in his arms. With a grunt, I hoisted the male up over my shoulder and nodded to Matthew, starting towards the trees as we headed towards base. This job was supposed to be pretty easy since both of the shifters were still unconscious from the car crash when we ran them off the road.
After we were about halfway there, my phone buzzed in my pocket, making me stop. I set the male down on the ground and pulled out my phone, clicking it on as I put it up to my ear.
"Yeah?" I said into my phone as I rolled my eyes. Matthew stopped and came over to me, still holding the girl.
"Hey, you guys better hurry. The boss is getting impatient. Are y'all almost here?" The person on the other end of the line asked, aggravated and anxious
"Chill, Colby. We're almost there. We got both the shifters and we'll be there in a second." I said before clicking my phone off and sticking it back in my pocket.
"Harsh." Matthew joked as I pulled the male back over my shoulder, grunting.
"Whatever, lets just get them to base." I said as I started walking again, followed my Matthew. Soon, we made it to the gravel road that led to the base. Coby was already waiting there with his large black hummer as we walked up.
He got out and came around the open the back doors, where we put the shifters inside. Matthew jumped into the back with them to give them each a shot of anesthesia before they woke up as I jumped into the passenger seat. As we started towards the base, Matthew pulled out one of the syringes and prepared it before he stuck it carefully into the females arm.
Next he moved to the male but before he could insert the drug into him, the shifters eyes shot up and instantly locked onto his sister lying unconscious next to him. He acted on instinct as he tried to jump up and keep Matthew from being able to subdue him. As quickly as I could I jumped into the back and held the male down, giving Matthew his chance to plunge the syringe into the shifters arm, sending the drug through his bloodstream and forcing his quick movements to become sluggish before stopping altogether.
As we finally made it to base, we quickly jumped out of the car and grabbed the shifters limp bodies, taking them inside. As soon as we walked into the large base house, one of the guards stopped us.
"The boss said to take the shifters up to the infirmary until he sees to them." He informed us before I gave him a brisk nod. "Oh, and the boss wants to see you."

Kora's POV
My head throbbed as I opened my eyes, quickly closing them again as the bright sunlight invaded my sensitive eyes. I tried to bring my hands up to hold my aching head, but my heart leaped as I felt my wrists were tied together in front of me.
Carefully now, I opened my eyes to see my ankles and wrists were chained together by thick metals cuff and chains. My pulse pumped in my ears as I observed my strange surroundings. I tried to think back on everything that had happened recently, but the last thing I could remember was our car being run off the road. I had no idea where I was, all I knew was I was somewhere I didn't need to be.
I looked over and saw Damon sitting up against the opposite wall with his head hanging down. His wrists and ankles were also chained like mine, but what scared me what that he wasn't moving.
"Damon?" I asked, my dry throat protesting. No answer. "Damon?" I asked again, but still he didn't respond. I quickly thought through the possible ways to escape before the large door to this room opened, making me freeze. A young man, around our age quickly came in, silently closing and locking the door behind him. He looked at me and pity filled his eyes as he began to step closer, quietly speaking.
"I don't have much time. I'm sorry for what's happened. I brought you here but I didn't know what they were going to do to you and your brother. I have the keys to your chains but I can't unlock you or they'll know I helped you. You need to wait until I leave." He said bending down and placing the small key in the palm of my hand and I slowly closed my cold fingers around it, holding on tightly to my escape.
"What's your name?" He asked me, looking into my eyes. I hesitated, but my voice eventually found it's way out of my throat.
"Kora." I said weakly, earning a small smile from him.
"The key will work for both yours and your brothers chains. Don't come out until the witches get there." He said, turning to leave, leaving me confused.
"Witches?" I asked, louder as he walked towards the door. He stopped but didn't face me as he answered.
"I'm sorry that I can't explain, but I don't have time. I've been here too long already." He said, placing his hand on the door knob and unlocking the door before he pulled it open.
"Wait," I said, making him stop and look at me this time. "What's your name?" I asked, earning another sad smile.
"Matthew." He said before he closed the door, but this time he didn't lock it back. I smiled as I looked down at the small key in my hand. Quickly, I fumbled with it until I unlocked my wrists, moving to do the same to my ankles. Once I was completely free, I moved over to Damon and my heart dropped.
I silently unlocked his wrists and ankles, placing my hand on his shoulder and gently shaking it, trying to wake him from his unconsciousness. Gradually, he woke, groaning as he opened his eyes slowly.
"Kora?" He asked, worriedly. "Are you alright?" He asked as I rolled my eyes, smiling.
"Yes, Damon. I'm fine. Can you stand?" I asked, getting to the point. I didn't want to waste anytime before we could escape.
"Where are we?" Damon asked stronger, standing straight. "What happened?"
"I don't know, but we're going to get out of here, ok?" I said, getting a small nod from him and I walked over to the door, putting my ear against it to hear anything from outside. I couldn't hear anything besides some small murmurs coming from down the hall.
"What are we waiting for? We need to go." Damon said as he went to grab the door knob. I quickly grabbed his hand and stopped him, putting a finger over my lips to hush him as I heard loud yelling coming from down the hall.
Suddenly, there was a loud bang the echoed down the hall, making me jump back, taking Damon with me. As the door opened, Matthew stood there with a smirk on his face.
"The witches are here."
