Kora's POV
The rain was so thick, almost like the earth was submerged under water, devouring the trees and the ground whole.
"Matthew!" I screamed out, pushing my way through the rain and trees, my eyes straining to see in front of me. "Matthew!" I screamed again, needing to find him so badly. I yelled again, but got the same answer as before. As I screamed again, straining my throat, I fell to my knees, crying out in frustration.
My cries surrounded me and the woods as tears fell down my cheeks along with the rain drops that soaked me. Even the trees looked like they were crying with me because of the rain falling off of them.
"Matthew.." I whispered in between my tears, my voice gone. "Where are you?" I asked, facing the sky where the rain fell from. Strands of my hair clung to my face and neck and I sat there on my knees crying to the sky.
"Kora.." I heard a voice behind me. I just shut my eyes, ignoring the foreign voice behind me, the stranger that knew my name being the least of my worries.
"Kora, you have to get up. They're coming for you, you have to leave. Run." I felt the stranger lift me to my feet, making me slowly open my eyes when I felt a small bolt of electricity run down my spine from his touch. I turned my head to look at the stranger and my breath caught in my throat. He was gorgeous.
His brown blonde hair stopped just at his eyes, messy from the rain as it stuck to his face, making his emerald green eyes stand out. He only had on a pair of dark denim jeans and a thin white shirt, practically see-through in the rain. His shirt stuck to him because of the wet, accentuating his large muscles and abs as my eyes followed his body.
Slowly, he reached his hand up to cup my cheek, making my eyes shoot up to his face.
"Run." He said simply, before I saw men running towards me behind the stranger. I looked back at the man in front of me, looking into his eyes and almost getting lost in them as he spoke again.
"Run." He said again, almost in a whisper, before the men that were chasing after me were closing in. Against my wolf that wanted to stay with the stranger, I ran only looking back over my shoulder once to look at the stranger again, before the men chasing me barreled through him making him disappear like he was a cloud of smoke, a ghost.
The men closed in on me, my legs too tired to continue running for very long. As they got closer I tripped, falling onto my hands and knees roughly, making me cry out. As they circled around me, the largest of them stopped closer with a knife in his hand, smirking at me as he kneeled down beside me.
"Your mine." He said about to stab me with his knife before everything went black.
--
I screamed, sitting up in a cold sweat. My heart racing as I tried to catch my breath, holding my chest. I felt like I had been running, my lungs burned and ached for air as I sat there on my bed.
Damon barreled through my door, scanning the entire room before he looked at me, quickly walking over to me and kneeling beside my bed placing a light hand on my ankle.
"Shhh..." He said, moving to sit next to me after he studied me for a minute, concluding I was alright. "Was it a dream?" He said, brushing my hair back as I still tried to lessen the pain in my lungs as I continued to breathe. I just nodded my head as I closed my eyes.
As soon as my eyes shut I saw the stranger again, his dirty blonde hair soaked and messy from the storm as his eyes seemed to look right into my soul but when he touched me, I couldn't explain what I felt. It was like nothing else I had ever felt before. He felt so safe but at the same time a complete stranger.
