Chapter One

Isabella's POV

I've been very busy this past few weeks. We are running for the deadline.
The phone on my table suddenly made an irritating noise. I put my pen down and picked up the call.
"Harrison Builders Enterprises, how may  I help you?"
"Hello,good morning to you too. Is my father around?"
That voice made me burst into anger. I controlled myself not to shout at him.
"He's on the meeting. Do you want to leave a message for him?"
"Tell him to call me back." He said. Then he finished the call.
I put the phone back to where it is belong. I combed my hair using my hands and did my work again.
"He even didn't say any good bye. What an annoying human being!"
That is  Raven Harrison  Hall. He's not a businessman but a doctor. Doctor of Internal Medicine to be exact. I haven't seen him since he never appeared in parties or galas.
My boss,Mr. Hall has three children. I always saw the two siblings in company party. Harris Hall is the second son who is still studying in University. And the youngest is Bettina Hall who really looks like their mom.
"Isabella, some phone calls for me?" Mr. Hall entered in the executive office.  He was still strong at the age of 64 years old.
"Dr. Raven called earlier sir. He said to call him back after your meeting." I told him. He smiled.
"Oh,that man always demand me to call him back. " he said. He went to his office.
I continued my work. I was engrossed on the things I'm working so I didn't notice the time.
The company is exporting house furniture and some beautiful handicrafts in China, Thailand and Japan. Mr. Hall and his wife started this business when they got married. Mrs. Hall loves making handicraft. She then built the handicrafts shop with thirty workers who are married women. The shop grew instantly and they expanded it.
It was out of their love. It became successful until now. I met Mrs. Hall one time when I had to bring a document to Mr. Hall. She was so kind and lovely.
Mrs. Hall is a pure Filipina. But Mr. Hall is a half American. His father is an American Navy Seal who died during the operation.
I also had a chance to meet Mr. Hall's mother. She was 89 years old. She was beautiful and strong for her age.
My phone rang and it was Lee.
"Hello,Lee."
"Isabella, are you free today?"
"Why? I've work. What happened?"
"Belle,Jonah is in critical condition. She's having stomach cramps."
"What?"
"Yeah,we're on the hospital. I thought she had her period but she wasn't. She was throwing up this morning after you left. "
"Where is she now?"
"She's in the emergency room. Doctors were helping here already."
"Okay. I'll be there later."
"Thanks,good friend."
I stood up and went to Mr. Hall's office.
I knocked the door and when I heard he said,come in,I got inside.
"Isabelle, what's up? "
"Sir,can I go out for a while? My friend is in the hospital. I have to see her."
"Sure. "
"Thank you sir."
"No problem. You can call Raven to help you."
"No need sir. She has might already  been taken care with the doctors in the hospital."
"Okay. By the way, did the production department already give us the report?"
"Yes sir,I've sent it to you this morning."
"Oh,thanks. "
"You're welcome sir. I'll be going after lunch."
"Okay."

At exactly two in the afternoon,I went to the hospital. I immediately went to the ward where Lee texted me.  I was running. I really wanted to see her.
Then to my recklessness,I was crashed to a hard chest. I could smell the natural scent. A combination of disinfectant and a fresh menthol aftershave.
"I-im sorry." I said without looking at the man. My heart was beating so fast. It maybe because I was running hard.
"You can kill a patient if you let yourself being an athlete here. "
"I told you I'm sorry. "
"It can't help a dying man either."
"Whatever. You're not dead right?" I punched him on his stomach before I ran away. Wheew! Then I saw Lee standing on the hallway.
"Belle,the doctor just left. He said Jonah is fine now. Few days for rest will do good to her."
"Oh,that's good.I'll pay the bills."
"Okay. We'll transfer her to private room too."
"Okay. Did  you contact her family?"
"Yeah,I did. Her boyfriend came earlier. Tsk,that man is terrible. "
"Why? "
"He said he would never come back again. "
"Why?"
"Jonah found out that he's cheating."
"What?"
"Yeah."
I went to the nurse station to inquire the bill.
"What's the name,Ma'am?"
"Claire Jonah Santos."
"Ten thousand,Ma'am."
"Oh,that's big."I said.
" She had operation if you don't know. It's her appendicitis. " A man stood beside me.
"Good afternoon,doc." The nurse greeted him. She was smiling so sweetly to him.
"Are you going to pay or what?"
He said. I handed her the card. My savings was being used again.

I left them and headed to the elevator.
I save my money for my travel getaways.
My phone rang and it was my mom.
"Isabella,when are you going home?do you have plan to go home or what?"
"Mom,the company is very busy nowadays. Sure,I'll go home this month."
"Are you still eating your meals properly?"
"I did."
"Lee told me that you were always had overtime."
"Yeah. But I'm fine."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah,"
"We almost finished renovating our house."
" that's good. I'm happy to hear that."
"Well,you should come so that you can see what's going on in your room."
"Okay."
"Fine,come home,it's been five months already."
"Yeah."
I was about to put my phone in my bag when he spoke at my back.
"You didn't come home." He said. He's two hands were in the pocket of his white coat.
" None of your business."
"Well,yeah. Not my business. But in the future,it would be my business."
His voice sounds very familiar.
He entered the elevator and it closed.
"What does he mean? Who is he by the way?" I stomped my feet because of annoyance.
I waited for the next lift.
My phone rang again.
"Hello."
"Belle,are you still in the hospital?"
"Yeah, Mr. Hall."
"Oh,which hospital you are in? I have an errand for you to do."
"Good Samaritan Medical Hospital."
"Alright. My son is working there. Kindly tell the Nurse station that he should be home tomorrow. Urgent."
"Alright,Mr. Hall. Got it!"
"Thanks,dear."
He ended the call. I went back to the nurse station.
"Is Dr. Raven Hall around?"
"He is."
"Kindly tell him his father requested him to go home tomorrow urgently. "
"May I know who are you?"
"I'm his father's Secretary. Isabella Chavez."
She wrote my name on a piece of paper.
"Thanks." I told them. There were three nurses on duty. Other one is a man. He's good looking too.
"Nice to meet you Miss Chavez." I smiled at him. I left the station.
I went back to Jonah's suite.
"I'm going back to the office." I told her. She nodded her head.
"Her family will be here in a few minutes. I'll get going then when they arrive."
"Okay. Thanks Lee."
"Thanks too."
We both look at Jonah. She might be the strongest among the three of us but she's still in pain inside.
She was complaining with that pain before but she just ignored it.
"I'm going."
"By the way,have you met his doctor?"
"Why?"
"The famous doctor in the Philippines."
"What?"
"Yeah. He was famous because he volunteered during the virus outbreak last five years ago."
"Really?"
"Yeah,he's so kind. He even went to neighboring country side to have medical check up  to people who can't go down for health check up."
"Oh,so kind."
"Handsome too. "
"Really?"
"Hmm. He's considered as billionaire doctor. His family is a billionaire. They have vast of fortune."
"And then?"
"Then what?"
I laughed.
"I don't know him. And? It's not my business to know people."
She hit my forehead.
"You keep people away from you. That's why you are NBSB! Get a life! Dear. Life is beautiful."
"Whahh! Then what's the connection of her doctor?"
"Maybe you would think to seduce him. He's a perfect match for you."
"What?"
"Yeah. But I think he's married. Or engaged. He has ring on his finger."
"See? You better wait until I get married."
"When is that? When I get old?"
I laughed. Lee is really a good friend to me. We've been friends since college. I couldn't replace them to anything in this world. That's what friends are for.
