Chapter Twenty Three

Years passed. My graduation ceremony is fast approaching. We can't graduate if we can't finish our time allotted for our internship in Good Samaritan Medical hospital. I was assigned to him.
He was not treating me that I'm his wife. He's terrible.
It's my first time for attending the surgery. He specialized in internal medicine. So he can operate.
"What are you doing? Suction!"
He was shouting at me.
"Are you shaking? Do you think you can save your patient if your hands are shaking. Get a hold!"
Everyone is looking at us. They knew that I was his wife.  I was almost crying with all his terrible words but I have the desire to save my patient.
He stood by me.
"You have to stop the bleeding. Don't let fear win over you. Your patient depends on you." He said. He hit my hand.
"Doc. " The nurse told him.
"She needs to learn how to be strong." He said. I just focused on the patient. Later,I'll get revenge on you. I tried myself to save the patient when the attending nurse   announced that the patient's status is stable now.
He left.
I took off my operation gown and the sterile gloves and mask. I put it on the trash can.
"Doc. Bella,I'm sorry. It's my first time to see Doc. Raven is acting that way."
"No,he usually like that. Don't worry."I smiled to her.
" but you did great. He looked at you proudly. He even smiled at you when I said the patient's status is stable "
I laughed at her.
I stayed in the lounge for taking a rest from busy hours. I was about to drink my soda when someone grabbed it.
"Who---"
"Don't drink this. It's not good for your health. As a doctor,you should be a real model to your patients."He sat beside me. I ignored him as if I didn't see him.
" I am your trainee. Shouldn't you stay here?"
He opened the soda and drink it.
"Were you scared earlier?" He asked me.
I nodded my head slowly.
I looked at him. My tears was running down to my cheeks. He laughed and hugged me immediately.
"I hate you." I told him.
"You did great earlier."
He kissed me on my head.
He stood up and tapped my shoulder.
"I'm going for my rounds. Let's go."
I gathered my memo and followed him.
He let me check the patient. I saw a young boy.
"Hello?" I greeted him.
He waved his hand to me.
"Kid,this is my wife." He said to him.
"She's beautiful." I smiled.
"Thank you." I answered.
"It's joke." Raven's teased me.
I get his blood pressure.
They were so close. Before we left,they gave a high five gesture to each other.
"He has heart failure " he said.
"Really?"
"Yeah,that was the result of a mother who is not taking care of her body when she's pregnant." He said.
"Yeah."
"If you become pregnant,you should not work anymore."
I stopped from walking. I was surprised. My face began to red.
"What happened?"
"Pregnant? No work? Me?"
"Yeah. It's my baby. You should stop from working. "
"I don't want to get pregnant."
"What?"
"Let's not talk about it. I have butterflies in my stomach right now. "
He laughed at me.
"Are you serious?" He asked me again. He walked by me.
We went to the elevator.
"I love child " He started again.
I covered my ears.
"Fine. "
The intercom made an announcement.
Dr. Raven Hall,please proceed to Emergency room. Thank you.
We immediately ran towards the emergency department.
We saw three people covered with their own blood.
"What happened?" He asked. I observed him doing some assessment. The nurse cleaned the wounds of the patient.
"What are you doing? Help me!" He told me. 
"Don't shout at me." I told him.
"I'm sorry!" He said.
I helped him. We have been focused on saving them. There was an accident happened in another town. It was serious so they are in critical condition.
When I finished assisting and doing some assessment, I got tired. I checked my wristwatch. It's 9 in the evening.
"Let's go." He told me.
I nodded my head gently. He gave me a bottled water. I immediately drink it all.
"Thanks."
He nodded his head.
We went home together.
We are doing our dreams together. Being a doctor is not an easy job.
He let me sleep along the way. When we arrived,he woke me up.
" we're here."
"I'm sorry,I slept."
"It's okay."
We got out from the car. I opened the lights.
"Where are you going?" He asked me. He is on the stairs.
"I'm going took dinner for you." I told him. He smiled at me.
"You don't have to. I called for food delivery."
"Really? But I can make it for you."
"You're tired."
"Are you sure."
"Yeah. Change your clothes and while waiting, take a rest." I nodded my head and followed him.
We went to our room. I immediately take off my clothes and wore my bath robe. I went to the bathroom. For ten minutes,I went out again and dove to the bed. He's done freshen up. He's wearing his pajama that looks like mine. He's sitting on the bed and reading some books.
"Really tired?"
"Hmm." I answered.
"Take it off."
"What? I told you I don't want to get pregnant this time. I want to enjoy my life as a doctor. Please wait for me. I'm not yet ready." I told him. He poked my forehead.
"If I want to do it,I won't ask for your permission. I'll massage you. C'mon." He said. I turned my back. He got a massage oil and rubbed it on my back. I feel relaxed.
"Oh my gosh! That's great!" I told him as he pressed my back.
I closed my eyes and dozed off to sleep. I feel my spirit was lifted. His hands were so light that is just caressing my back and ease the pain and tiredness I felt today.
I couldn't remember if I had breakfast. I was really tired that I want to sleep only.
At 12 midnight,I woke up. I saw the food on the bedside table. He was sleeping soundly. His arm was on my body enclosing me for a big hug.
I kissed his forehead.
I was still wearing my robe. I smiled. I really got tired. I got up and wore my pajama. He woke up too.
"Are you okay?" I nodded my head. I tapped his arms so that he can get back to sleep.
"You can do that to our baby but not to me." He said. He caught my hand and let me hug him.
"Are you awake?"
"Why?"
"I can't go back to sleep."
"Why?"
"I don't know."
"What do you want?"
"Let's talk."
"I'm sleepy."
"Okay,sleep now."
"What do you want to talk about?"
"Don't leave me behind okay?"
"I won't."
"Sure?"
"Yeah. "
"I love you."
"I love you ."
"Raven,"
"What?"
"Are you sleeping?"
"Yeah."
"Okay,I'll sleep now."
"Good. I love you " he kissed my head and hugged me. I feel my night would not be completed without this. I really wanted to wake up in the morning and saw his face when I opened my eyes. I wanted to stay by his side everyday.
