[a/n] very busy with school but i write this in advance so heyy here ya go i guess! enjoy :p thanks for reading and voting as always etc

After spending the rest of the afternoon in the zoo, we went out for dinner at some semi-fancy restaurant with amazing food. After that we went back to the house, where I first took a long shower. After that I went downstairs again, grandma on the phone, granddad asleep in his chair with a book on his chest. I was eyed over by my grandma and she pushed the phone into my hands. “It’s your mom.” She smiled. My mother and I talked for a little longer than an hour, and later, as soon as granddad woke, we got some tea and played a game of monopoly.

2 hours and 40 minutes later, after losing from both my grandparents, I went to lay in bed. I wasn’t really tired yet, but told my grandparents that I was so they wouldn’t feel guilty for going to bed earlier than I did, leaving me behind in the living room (which wasn’t actually a bad thing, according to me) or worse, stay up late with me, they could use some extra sleep these days. I went on twitter and noticed a radio silence from Debby. She hadn’t posted a tweet in a few days and we basically hadn’t texted each other in forever.

“Hey Debby :) howre you?” quite awkward, but I didn’t really know any other way to start up the conversation. I continued to mindlessly scroll through social media after reading and responding to some texts. After about 5 minutes, Debby replied.

“hey Jen! Good to hear from you, it’s been a while. I’m okay, I guess. Got a lot on my mind, but I could be worse.”

“Sorry to hear :( if you need someone, I’m here. But don’t feel forced to talk :) I’m sure things will clear up sooner or later”

“hope so, I could use some clarity. thanks for being here, Jenna, you’re awesome. How’s Seattle?”

“Never a problem, you’re great too :) Seattle is great, missed this place a lot. Haven’t seen my parents and little brother in a while though, that does kind of suck.”

“Aww :( soon you’ll be reunited though (how much longer?)”

“Like 1,5 week, which also makes me sad bc this place is so much more fun than Ohio :( buuuut one of my friends just texted that they might come over for either Thanksgiving or Christmas :)))))))))” Which was true, Scott had just sent a text in the group chat, making me intensely happy. My reply was –obviously- an abundance of caps lock letters along with the words “YEEEEEEEESSSSSSS, I BET YOU GUYS CAN SLEEP AT MY PLACE.”

I was about to text my mom when I saw it was already past 1 AM, and since she didn’t like it when I went to bed late, and she knew my grandparents would definitely be asleep by now, I decided against it.

As the excited text messages went on, I got another text from Debby. “Ahh, that’s enough time to do a lot of fun stuff but you’ll be with your family before you know, so enjoy your west-coast time bae :p”

“yess :)) will do! I gtg to sleep :/ sorry, sleep well Debby, talk to you soon :)”

“Good idea. Sleep well and thanks for worrying J ttyl”

I wished the others goodnight too and went to sleep. Turned out I was tired after all, as I was far gone within 5 minutes. It had been a long, but nonetheless great day.

-----------------------

The last 2 days had been pretty okay, I drove my granddad to the hospital, and because he’d have to be there pretty much all day, grandma and I went shopping. He was glad; he didn’t want to force us to stick around, plus, he dreaded shopping. We bought some clothes for the both of us, and some other nice things. Grandma bought me a very cute bracelet, silver with black beads. We grabbed a bite at some café, and then went to pick up my granddad.

The day after, granddad felt kind of sick because of the medication. I had woken up early and decided to go do some groceries. Grandma gave me a list and since I wanted to cook them dinner, I had to get some stuff to actually make dinner. The rest of the day I hung out with Paige, Olivia and Scott.

Today was more calm. Grandpa was feeling better, grandma was going to do something fun with an old friend, everyone was having a pretty good day. Except for me, that is. I woke up early and felt like I hadn’t slept that well. The weather was gray, but thankfully it wasn’t raining. When I got downstairs, grandma was about to leave. She kissed me on the forehead and told me and granddad goodbye.  I grabbed some cereal even though I wasn’t very hungry and then went back upstairs to put on a hoodie and some basketball shorts. I had found a basketball in the garage the other day and decided to throw some balls on the nearby court.

When I got back downstairs, granddad was sitting with some man, laughing about stories from the past, a new bouquet of flowers as an eye catcher on the table. I don’t know what it was with my grandparents getting flowers from literally everyone, but flowers were nice so I couldn’t call it a bad thing. Not even today.

I told granddad that I went out for a bit, grabbed the ball from the garage and walked over to some court I remembered from when I lived here. When I arrived, after nearly getting lost twice, I was relieved to see that the court was still there, even though it seemed like no one had been there for at least three years. I put on some music with my earplugs in, dribbled a bit and scored some point, but also missed a lot.

I wasn’t even sure why I was feeling the way I did, but I think I was just afraid. I didn’t want to go back to Ohio, didn’t want to go back to Zoey and Audrey, didn’t want to go to college. Also, I just didn’t want to leave my friends here, nor my grandparents. Especially since they got older and older and you know, life just ends sometimes. I sat down on the bench next to the basketball field and rested my chin on my hands and my elbows on the ball. It honestly bummed me out that Tyler and I barely talked.

After sitting for 5 more minutes and throwing a few more balls, I decided to walk back to the house. It was getting windy and cold, and my plan for distracting myself a bit didn’t work as well as hoped.

When I got back, I took a shower and then invited Scott, Paige and Olivia over.

About an hour later, we were all sitting in my room, talking about them coming to Columbus, I had called my mom and she found it a great idea to have them over for a while.

A bit later, Paige held her phone out to me. “Jen, do you have any idea who this girl is?” she asked. I took her phone and looked at the Instagram page.

“Uhm, no? I think not, I mean, why?”

She took the phone out of my hands and sighed.

“Well, uhm…”
