When I flung open the doors of Zuko's room, several guards were standing together talking about who knows what.
"Hey!" I yelled, and they all turned to face me. "Have any of you seen Naoko?"
"Um-" One of the taller ones said. "I think he's off tonight. He should be in his room-"
"Great." I interrupted, and I powered down the hallway. My blood was absolutely boiling. He was everything I'd ever wanted, but he was gone now. If he really would never love me, I'd at least make him feel what I felt right now.
I wanted him to burn inside like I did. A small part of me, deep down, told me I shouldn't. Told me that his kindness, his care, and his gentleness was genuine. Told me that he didn't mean to hurt me, he just didn't feel the same way.
I shoved that part down and shut it up.
When I got to Naoko's door, I knocked twice and waited for him to open it. He did.
"Hiromi! What a lovely surprise! Come in-"
"Not now Naoko. I'm not in the mood." I said, walking into his room. He looked surprised, but he didn't stop me.
"Okay. Is there anything I can help you-"
"Yes. What are you doing tomorrow night?"
"Well, I'm working my shift guarding hall six." He said. How convenient. He was working the royal hallway just as I'd hoped.
"What time does your shift start?" I asked.
"Ten thirty and I work until four in the morning."
I nodded. It was almost too perfect to be true.
"I want you to meet me there at quarter till ten looking hotter than blue fire." I said. "I've been dying to do you in your uniform."
