Mrs. Jane Smith

It's been six weeks, since I was last at Dr. Klein's with Vanessa.

From the third session, she's been going on in herself, I just had to drop her upto the place and she would attend the session on her own. I was really happy that she was gaining confidence again and was at least, smiling from the past few days.

Tamara has been coming home, lately. Vanessa has been really smiling around her and she's been eating properly too. And the last time I remember she had a nightmare was almost 2 weeks ago.

She's been definitely better than before and the sessions are really helping her getting better. I'm really happy to see her recovering.

But, things aren't so good between us. We don't talk like we used to. The only time I get to hug her is either when she goes under an attack or has a nightmare. I've been missing talking to her. I wanna hold her to my chest, ask her how she feels, tell her I love her so much & nothing has ever changed for me. But, I can't.

But, I know one day I definitely will. When she'll be back to me, the way she left, I'll hold her to me again. I know she needs time & I'm willing to give it to her, as much as she wants but, I still miss her.

I still love her.

I was brought out of my thoughts when, the door bell rang. I kept my notebook & pen down and went out of my room to the door. I opened it up to look at him.

Sasha.

He was standing a few meters away from the door, hands awkwardly settled in the pockets, shifting on his feets, looking the door mat.

"Sasha?", I asked silently.

"Yes, Hello Mrs. Smith." He said, hesitantly looking at me.

"Come in", I let him in the house.

He hesitantly gets in the house and goes straight to the couch, standing in front of it. He waits till I settle down & then, sits on his place. He's nervously fidgeting with his fingers and gulped audibly.

"Do you need water?" I asked softly.

"No, I'm fine. Thank you." He said looking upto me.

"Actually, I came to ask you about her.... How's Vanessa?" He asked slowly. I could visibly see his nervousness.

"Yeah, she's... She's good. Actually she's at a session right now." I said, informing him.

"I know, that's why I'm here. I didn't wanted to...face her, again." He said softly, looking down at his feet.

"Sasha... You know, whatever happened that day, was jus-" he intrupted me.

"No, I get it... I shouldn't have invaded her space, it was my fault. I'm sorry for that."

"No, it's not" I paused. "None of this was your fault. It's just, she needs a bit of time. And she's been recovering." I reassured him.

"Yeah I know, Tamara keeps telling me about her. I guess she's smiling again." He asked, hopefully looking at me.

"Yes. She's been smiling." I said with a hint of smile.

He's eyes sparkled immediately, and he's lips curled. He's really in love with her.

"When do you think, I can meet her?" He asked, very softly.

"I don't really know. But, when she would be really ready, she would come to you herself. And for now....all we can do is wait." I said, explaining it more to myself.

He nodded, understandingly.

We just sat there, thinking. None of us talked, cause we were in our world, thinking about the same person.
After some time, he finally spoke.

"How long the investigation is going to take?". He asked, calmly.

"They're sure, that... Sam & his friends were behind it. But, still they're not in town." I paused, "They're location is still not found." I said, disappointedly.

"So, aren't they interrogating their families?". He asked, clenching his jaw. I know he was angry.

"They already did. Their families also don't know about their whereabouts."
I replied.

He slightly nodded again.

He then, stood up. Thanked me and asked me to call me if, I would ever need anything. I read him in between the lines. He wanted to say, that I should call him as soon as Vanessa is ready. Poor child. He was heart broken. He went, without saying another word.

I returned to my room amd completed the rest of my letter.

It was time for me to pick her up. So, I went to the car and started driving. I've been planning to give her a surprise. Something that would cheer her up. I just wanted time for both of us, just like the good old days.

So I decided to buy her favorite, raspberry cake. It was opposite to the direction of the clinic but, I had plenty of time to pick her up.

So, I drove to her favorite store. She always says, they have the best cakes in the whole town. She's really picky.

I went in & ordered a medium size cake. I waited for a while & then paid for the cake. I asked them to, gift wrap it. Vanessa loves gift wraps. She even used to collect them in her childhood.

Thinking about her brought a smile on my face.

I took the cake & thanked the person there. She'll be so happy after seeing this. I can't wait to see her smile again.

I was just crossing the road, to get upto the car in the parking.

But then....!
