I slid into some shoes headed outside to make sure Lance got off the bus. He'd probably be disappointed it was me and not Rogue.

Walking out the door I shivered a little.

My hair was still damp from our short lived bath.

I got to the end of the driveway just in time for the bus to pull up. As soon as the doors were open Lance was out like a shot.

He ran to me hugging me tightly.

When he didn't let go even after the bus drove off, I became slightly worried.

"You alright pal?"

"Nervous." He muttered.

I pried him off me leading him inside, "Watcha nervous about."

He hesitated, "I have a date."

Raising an eyebrow I kicked my shoes off, "Oh? When and where?"

"In like twenty minutes at the park..is that fine?"

I nodded, "be back by six. Milah will be mad if you miss dinner."

"Do you need a ride?" I added.

He shook his head No, "Their meeting me here to walk me there."

"Well go get cleaned up, I'll tell you if they come."

Lance nodded grinning before scrambling upstairs.

Rogue emerged from behind the corner, "Who is this girl? Do you think she's nice? What if it's a prank?"

Merely rolling my eyes the doorbell rang before I could tease him. Opening the door I smiled kindly.

There was a boy about Lances age, he had bright mischievous blue eyes. Dark brown hair that was brushed neatly back, and very fidgety hands.

"Can I help you?" I questioned.

"Uh..is..is Lance home." He stammered shoving his nervous hands in his pockets.

"Well yes but he's busy."

The boys face fell, "Oh..but we had plans."

"Oh!" I excalimed "You're the date?

He nodded, "I'm Malcolm but well.. everybody calls me twitch."

"Can I ask why?"

My questiones were awnsered as his entire right side twitched suddenly.

He blushed apparently embarrased, "Sorry. Gets real bad when I'm nervous."

"Malcolm!"

His face lit up as Lance pushed past me to grab his hand.

"Be carefull! Home by six!" Rogue called as the ran down the driveway.

Malcolm stopped him suddenly reaching up to fuss over his hair.

Lance said something that apparently made Malcolm laugh before taking off at a sprint.

Which caused a wild chase between the two.

"C'mon!" Lance shouted the slapping of his shoes against the cement audible even to me "We'll miss the icecream trucks!"

I smirked but Rogue crossed his arms looking bitter, "He's to young for a boyfriend."

"Stop that." I scolded slapping his arm lightly.

"Well he is!" He argued.

"I don't know, the kid seemed pretty nice." Jacob said as I closed the front door.

Rogue grumbled something before stalking off to the kitchen.

Rogue

Nine years old was way to young to go on a date. That kid isn't taking Lance away from me that quickly.

I was about to take a seat at the kitchen bar when my phone started to ring. Seeing the familiar number my blood ran cold.

"Hello?" I awnsered quietly.

"Meet me at west and fourth. Midnight. If you don't." He paused there will be consequences."

Scowling I decided to challenge his request, "Oh yeah Josh? Or what? What kind of consequences?"

"Well for starters that pretty little boyfriend of yours might not be so pretty anymore." He sighed dramatically "It'd be a shame to ruin such a cute face."

"Fine!" I snapped hanging up.

Boone walked in looking worried, "What's up?"

"Just a telemarketer.  I muttered..

He couldn't even let me have one day with Boone.

And we had barely been dating a day!

But through my anger a small flame of Terror was beggining to grow.

I had to be alone.

With Mr.Ried.

At a quiet road.

And nobody would know I was gone until morning..

~~~~~~
I checked the time.
Eleven forty.
Making sure Boone was asleep, I slowly got out of bed. Sneaking down the stairs I slid into shoes. I opened the door stopping it right before the creak and shutting it behind me.
West and Fourth was a fifteen minute walk from here..I should have left sooner.
He'll be mad if I was late.
Starting down the sidewalk I began to get more nervous, remebering all the times I had to take this route.
Just to meet up with him.
But I couldn't let him possibly hurt Boone. I knew better than anyone about his connections.
Before I knew it, I was in the alleyway that me and him had chosen ages ago as our meetup place.
My eyes adjusting to the darkness, I saw a figure standing a ways away.
"It's me."
He turned crossing his arms.
"You're five minutes late."
Shrugging I looked down.
He scowled walking towards me, "You know I hate it when your late."
"I don't have to listen to you anymore." Instantly regretting my words my head snapped up.
His eyes darkened in both realisation and anger.
Realisation that I no longer was trained to be scared of his every command. And anger for the same exact reason.
"Well I suppose you don't have to." He sighed "But...It sure would benfit you if you did."
My confidence rising I chose to take another risk, "I'm not scared of you! Your one person! I have friends to you know."
"Well are they here right now?"
I furrowed my brows, "What? I- no?"
"Well. Then I guess your out of luck."
Before I could respond, I was grabbed from behind.
And everything went black.
