Young and In Love.

I was young
And he was kind
I was silly
And he was wise
I saw the world upside down
He saw the world inside out
His smiles drew me to him
My mischievous eyes drew him to me
Everyone said our love was wrong
We were in love and didn't care
Yet what bought us together
Was also what broke us apart
I started to see the world inside out
His smiles took on an edge
Our love became right
We started to care
And as I grew older
I became wise
All I thought he was
Was my active imagination
In over drive
Although I threw in the towel
My heart still aches
When I remember my first love.
At first,
I tried to sleep to ease the pain
But even in my dreams,
The pain found me.
They said my personality took a 360 degree turn,
They said I held him up too high
They said stupid things about my state
What do they know about love
Other than what they think they know about love
I threw myself into writing,
Reading,
Games,
Outings
Even became a clown just to ease the pain
But what worked most of all
Was sharing my thoughts
Errant and all
Into another being
Who didn't judge
And allowed me to express
Slowly,
I regained equilibrium
Although I never became that old me again
All my different new parts
Turned me into a fabulous new being.
