It was a Sunday morning & I just woke up from a deep slumber. I immediately went outside my room only to see my cat, Sola brushing up herself against my faux wool carpet placed on my living room floor.
As soon as she noticed me, she ran towards me and meowed nonstop. This brat's probably hungry.
I lifted her up to my chest and rubbed her as I walked towards the kitchen.
"Bakit ka na naman gutom, Sola? Your dad was supposed to feed you a while ago before leaving right? Where is he ba, ha?" I kept on baby talking to this spoiled cat as if she was going to respond to me.
I led her down & poured her food on the container. She began to silently consume her food.
Natawa at napailing na lang ako sakanya.
"Ang takaw. If only it's possible na namana mo yan sa tatay mo." I caressed her head once again before I entered the bathroom.
Before anything else, I brushed my teeth. I did my skincare routine after that. I didn't have anything scheduled, so I was free all day. I had a lot of things planned to make myself productive. I thought of doing yoga after breakfast. I had also planned to declutter my closet to make room for my newly bought clothes. Later that, I'd just chill in the living room, and binge-watch on Netflix.
But 'luckily', I wasn't able to do all that.
I was just about to start my day by deciding on what to eat for breakfast when my phone on the counter table rang.
I immediately picked it up, unaware of who was on the other line.
"Hello?"
"Hey,"
I paused.
Why is he calling me?
"H-hello?"
"Where are you? Are you in the hospital?"
"Uh, no I'm home. Why?" I shut my fridge and went straight to the living room.
"Are you leaving today?" his voice was so gentle, yet it's scared me.
"No. Bakit? Anong meron? Bakit ka napatawag?" dire diresto kong tanong.
My heart was beating fast. I was pacing back and forth, getting worried.
Why is he calling me, now? He hasn't called me since...
"Uhm hey, easy. I just wanted to ask if you saw my wallet on top of your refrigerator? I don't have it with me, so I thought maybe I left it there earlier."
Gago talaga neto.
Nawala yung kaba ko at napalitan lang ng inis. Bumalik ako sa kusina para tignan yung taas ng ref.
"Oo, andito. Apaka burara," bulong ko.
I heard him chuckle on the other line.
Seriously? Parang wala lang ah?
He is acting all so weird.
"Nice. If it's not too much trouble, could you bring it with me here in my office? I kind of needed it."
Napabuntong hininga ako at tinuloy ang pagkuha ng itlog sa ref.
"Fine. You could've just texted me, you know?"
"I know but you might not read it."
Good point.
"K. I'll come by after lunch."
"Uhm no. Mga before lunch sana after I leave for work... I am planning to buy groceries later this afternoon. Oh, which reminds me, could you text me later the list of all the things that you and Sola will be needing for her labor? I wanted to buy them all today."
Ah, lupet.
"Can't you just do that some other time? Or kahit ako na lang pag alis ko ng work bukas?"
Ang hassle niya. Para namang siya yung magpapalabor kay Sola ha.
"Uhm, I have no gas anymore so I would still need my wallet, though... So, if you don't mind?"
I scoffed at him. Ang tahi tahimik ng buhay ko tapos ang dami pang iuutos sa akin. Galing ha?
"Dami mong problema. Oo na. Hays. Ang bait pag may kailangan pero parang kup--"
"Excuse me? May sinasabi ka?" He asked.
"Hehe, wala."
"Okay. Well then, see you later. Thank you, Trisha." then he hung up.
"KUPAL" sigaw ko sa phone ko nang binaba niya yung tawag.
Nilapag ko sa mesa yung phone ko at napabuntong hininga.
Ayos na eh, ngayon na lang ako magrerelax, guguluhin na naman ako ng kupal na 'yon.
Parang tanga ko lang kasi... sumusunod naman ako.

I looked down at Sola while she's lying on the floor, staring at me.
"How did I end up completely head over heels with your dad, Sola?" She obviously didn't respond.
Could someone please remind me?
