Description - Harry doesn't pay as much attention to his daughter as he should

"Ellie, you're going to be late darling!" You called up the stairs to your 17 year old daughter.

You were stressed out because it was the first day back at school, since the Easter holidays, and none of your children were ready. It was like this every year, and yet it still continues to happen.

Sam and Josh hadn't even gotten out of bed until ten minutes ago, but boys being boys - they'll be ready. Ellie, on the other hand, could be here all day getting ready. Whereas Sam and Josh just brush their teeth, brush their hair and throw on their uniform, to be ready for school, Ellie put on makeup and did her hair nicely - you don't know where she learnt to be able to braid her hair, because it certainly wasn't you. You never understood why she wore makeup and made herself look dressed up, but she did it nevertheless.

She was beautiful with, and without, makeup. Especially without. Ellie was your second born and sister to three brothers. Your first born, Fred - whom was in his second year of university - looked nothing like you. Fred was the spitting image of his dad. When Ellie came along, you expected the same but were surprised to see her look just like you. She carried her fathers eyes, but everything else resembled you. Sam and Josh were just like their dad too.

Ellie was in Year 13 - the final year of school, in fact her exams were only a few weeks away. Sam was in Year 10 and Josh was in Year 11. It made you feel so old. All your babies had grown up and that meant you had too. You were yet to find a grey hair, but when you do you had bet £20 that you'll cry.

A few minutes later your children come tottering down the stairs, less urgently than they probably should have been. Sam and Josh, even though they weren't twins, acted like twins and it was so precious to watch. They had similar friendship groups and attended the same clubs - football, hockey and karate to name but a few. They even shared the same bedroom. You adored that they were so close, but it was going to make it so much harder when Josh left for uni - if he decides to.

Sam and Josh picked up their lunch bags off the granite counter, saying thanks to you as they did so. You could easily make them have school lunches, but if they were anything like your school lunches then you'd rather let them go hungry. They were also ridiculously expensive for some, cement tasting, cottage pie. Harry liked knowing that they were eating healthily, too, if they were eating by your hand.

Your two boys exited the front door, to catch the bus, the same time Ellie made it downstairs. However, unlike the boys, Ellie reaches straight for the door.

"Ellie, sweetheart, you're forgetting your lunch." You called out to her, from down the hallway. You picked up the brown, paper, bag filled with all sorts of goodies and shuffled down the oak, hardwood, floors to reach your daughter.

"It's fine mum." Ellie pushed the food away from her and back to you.

"Well... What are you going to eat at lunch then?" You asked, feeling as though you were missing something so obvious. Ellie hated school dinners, probably even more so than you had done, so surely she wasn't going to be eating them?

"I'll figure it out later." Ellie sighed.

"Ellie." You said her name sternly. "Don't be silly." Trying to push the bag back to her, making that satisfying crinkling paper noise as you did, but she rejected it again.

"Mum.. I—"

"What's going on out here?" You looked over your shoulder to see your husband, Harry, merge out from the living room with a steaming cup of, half-drunk, coffee in his hands.

Harry was recently back from his 'Love on Tour' tour, and was settling back in to family life. He had been back two weeks and had been spending time with you all, making up for lost time whilst he'd been away. He spent every night, wrapped up tightly between the sheets, with you, cherishing your every blemish and showing how much he loves you, and how greatly he missed you. He'd taken Sam and Josh to all their clubs, with any extra social meetings that might've entailed. As for Ellie, well, they'd done nothing really.
