The two armored "humvees" seemed to blend in with their surroundings as they sped down a deserted highway. Nathan could hear the rattle of the bullets connected to the machine gun mount on the top of vehicle. Other than the sound of wind, it was the only audible noise, and Will... "Why are you guys so damn quiet?" Nathan wasn't paying attention to Will, he was too busy fiddling with the assault rifle in his lap. "Nathan! Why are you so quiet?"
Nathan finally answered, "Cause, we've almost died four times this week!"
"Ok, ok... I get the picture, no need to yell."
"Why wouldn't I yell?!"
"Nathan, you're obviously having a mental break-"
"Shut the hell up! I'm tired of your crap Will!"
"Ohh~ ok. I'll remember to tell on you about your potty mouth." Will, a seventeen year old, had such a smug look on his face, while Nathan, a nineteen year old, looked like he just broke through the gates of hell. They both seemed to have forgotten the third passenger that was in the car with them at the time.
"How about both of you girls stop fighting over one sentence okay?" Sergeant Bale, at twenty-eight, looked young and calm as ever. Nathan wondered how he was always this calm, even while facing those creatures.
"Yes, I know we've almost been killed a couple of times Nathan, and I'm sorry but no one can control that. Now Will, stop pestering the poor kid. Just because you were a couple of strangers a few months ago doesn't mean you should stay that way and bother eachother so much, ya got it?"
Kid? I'm older than him!...Nathan didn't want to get on his bad side, "Sir, yes sir." Will on the other hand, "Sure."
"Good boys." Bale gave them a big smile, but for only half a second. He got message through his headset, Nathan could tell because he lifted his head slightly as if listening closely to something.
"Oh, hell..."
The vehicle stopped. Nathan felt a small fear inside him, "What is it?"
"Look out the right window...no sudden movements."
Nathan looked out the closest window. He almost couldnt stop himself from screaming. There were three of those creatures on the road.
