I was frozen... Completely frozen. The creatures started to come towards us, slowly though, as if studying the cars. One roared, or you could call it a roar, it sounded like a mixture of a pained or tortured scream and how they portrayed a dragon's roar on all those fantasy movies I used to watch. It was a blood curdling sound, and it sent a shiver down my spine. I'm pretty sure I saw it do the same to Will.
With the firepower we had at the moment it would be easy to drop them all, they're terrifying and can cause devastating damage. But worst of all, they're quick. One of the only flaws they have is that most of them have soft fleshy bodies, so firearms can drop them if you hit them enough. Explosives are even more effective. Don't let that fool you though. They have tons of body and muscle strength, and there's most likely millions of them, in numbers they can overcome and destroy anything they want to... I've seen it before, in my city, my home...
Then everything seemed to happen in a flash. The gunner up top swiveled slowly(I know, doesn't make sense. Just go with it.) towards the creatures, then opened fire. The first one dropped immediately. The gunners from both armored vehicles aimed at the second then killed it too. The third managed to make it to the first car, and flipped it. We could already tell the gunner on the top of that car was gone, he had his head and shoulders out of the car. I didn't know that soldier personally, but I knew he was a good man, his name was Zeke I think... Oh god! Katherine and Destiny are in there!
"Bale!"
"I know!" He didn't sound calm, but his expression was more calm than anyone else's. "Concentrate fire on that thing!"
"Sir, yes sir!" The gunner aimed and fired before the last creature could do any more damage. It dropped almost right away. "Thank god it was only three of them..." You could tell the soldier had adrenaline running through him through the slight shake in his arms and upper body.
"You got that right lieutenant. Come on, let's go see how the others are doing."
