Forever and always (ashton imagine)

For your anniversary, Ashton had decided on dinner. You were supposed to be meeting him there at 7 but it was already 7:45. He was supposed to be there. If your plans were to change, you're sure he would've called. You waited a little longer, even asking waiters if they had seen him, but they all said no. Was something wrong?

You looked the window, and suddenly your phone began ringing. The number was unknown. You picked up, almost instantly regretting it. "Is this Y/N Y/L/N?" The voice asked. You began to feel worried and anxious.
"Yes." You mumbled in response,
"Honey, something has happened. You need to come to the hospital right now."

Your heart began to race as you picked up your phone and keys, dashing to your car. You quickly drove, tears spilling from your eyes. As you were driving, your mind went back to December, you thought back to when he asked you, a sad smile forming on your face.

-Flashback-

"I, want you forever Y/N." He smiled. Your heart began to race as he got down on his knees.
"Ashton-"
"Forever and always, right Y/N?" You smiled as he continued to talk, "Through the good and the bad and the ugly."

You laughed and nodded.

"We can grow old together Y/N."

-Present-

You pulled op to the entrance and dashed to the front doors. You ran to the front desk.
"Ashton-Ashton Irwin." You panted. They rushed you through a maze of never-ending halls. On the way, they described what had happened and fresh tears formed in your eyes. You could barely hear what they were saying above your loud heartbeat.

You plastered a smile on your face as you walked into his room. You did your best to keep a straight face as you saw how he looked. It broke your heart. You sat down beside him and he weakly smiled.
"Hey, Y/N." His voice was soft. You tried your hardest not to cry.

"Ashton." You smiled, grabbing his hand. There was a silence between you as neither of you knew what to say.

"You're squeezing my hand too tightly." Ashton spoke, you looked down at your hands and realised you were. You started laughing, causing Ashton to smile. You loved his smile.

"Kennedy." Ashton suddenly said.
"Woah babe, is this some kind of hospital confession? I'm Y/N not Kennedy." You joked.
"No Y/N, I wanna name our kid Kennedy and Romeo, if it's a boy." He smiled.
"Kennedy Irwin. It has a nice ring to it you smiled.

For the rest of the night you two discussed your dozen kids and the house on the hillside you were going to own. The good life where you two would stay forever.

Then you got an idea and called the nurses in. You told them the idea and they smiled and gave you assuring nods. You sweetly asked the elderly couple next door if you could borrow some rings and they agrees, saying you two reminded them of their younger selves.

The nurses called in the hospitals Pastor and it began. He said a couple of verses and did his speech. You said your vows.
"Ash, I want you forever. Like you said, forever and always. Through the good and the bad and the ugly. We'll grow old together and always remember, I don't care if we're rich or poor, whatever because I know we'll still love each other." You smiled, through your tears. You were a sobbing mess by the time you finished the vows.

The beeps were getting to slow. You heart beat contradicted it and sped up. Your tears went from happy tears to sad ones. You knew it was coming, but you didn't want it to. The nurse rubbed your shoulder, comforting you.

"Y/N." Ashton was breathless at this point.

"I will love you forever. Forever and always. Please just remember, even if I'm not there, I'll always love you, but I'm going to need you to move on Y/N. You need to be happy. But never forget how much I love you." He weakly smiled.

"No. Ashton don't say that! You'll be okay!" You yelled, but it was muffled by your tears.

"Y/N. You're, My. Forever. And. Always." He spoke between breaths. You leaned in for one final kiss and then it went flat.
