Carl's P.O.V.

The three had come back and told us they found a place we could stay. Next thing we knew, we were driving up to a prison. There were rows of tall fencing, watch towers, a huge field. There were walkers scattered, but we could take care of them. Glenn cut a hole in the fence and we all climbed through. Once we were all in, he used a cord to tie it back together.

We were on the inside of one set of fences, and on the outside of the other. We started jogging over to the main gate. "Someone needs to make a run for the gate and close it. Once we close those, it stops the rest of the walkers from pouring in." My dad explained.

"I'll do it." Glenn volunteered.

"No, it's a suicide run." Maggie argued.

"I'll go. Carl, Hershel, Elle, go into the guard towers and cover for me. Carol, you've become a good shot, you go there too. You two will go in that one, and you two will go in this one." My dad said. Me and Carol went up into the nearest tower, while Hershel and Elle went into the one parallel. We watched as Glenn opened the gate for my dad. We started shooting the walkers that were getting close, trying not to waste ammo.

Carol accidently shot at my dads foot. "Sorry!" She shouted before continuing. She had become a pretty good shot, not gonna lie. My dad clipped the gate shut and nodded to Daryl.

"Light it up!" Daryl cheered. We started taking out the remaining walkers. I looked up to see Elle shooting down every walker she intended to. All the walkers were dead. We did it. We came out of the towers.

"We haven't had this much space since the farm!" Carol laughed doing a twirl. I couldn't blame her, this would be nice.

Elle's P.O.V.

We all sat around our small fire, eating squirrels and rabbits. I'm glad we found this place. I was leaning on Glenn's shoulder, just looking at the stars above. We never got the chance to do this without worrying something is gonna appear behind us and eat us. It was nice. I zoned out for a minute, but came back to hear Maggie and Beth singing. They had beautiful voices, especially Beth. When they had finished, there was a small applause. "That's his third time around. If there was a breach, he would've found it by now." Hershel said. Rick had been circling the perimeter. He walked over to us.

"I suggest we all get some sleep tonight. We've had a long day, we're gonna try and clear out the prison tomorrow. Maybe find a commissary." Rick announced.

"An armory?" Daryl asked.

"That would be outside the main building. But there's a map in the warden's office." Rick pointed out.

"This ground is perfect for farming. We could start a harvest when the winter is over." Hershel suggested.

"We get a hose for the stream right out there, we have fresh water." TDog added. Rick nodded. We all knew we could do something with this place.

Everyone started to lay down and get settled. Maggie and Glenn were cuddling, so I just scooted away from them. I used my backpack as a pillow and looked at the stars again. Just as beautiful. The only sound to be heard was the small crackle of the fire. I closed my eyes and let the darkness swallow me.

________

"Elle, wake up." I heard. I slowly opened my eyes and looked over my shoulder to see Beth shaking me. We had gotten closer while being on the road all winter. "You're the last one up." She chuckled. I looked around, and sure enough, everyone was awake and looking at me.
