It's been a few days since everything went down. Rick is still unstable, but everyone else has seemed to move on, as that was their only other option. People were trying to keep their distance, not only from Rick, but from eachother. Everyone grieves in their own way. All the baby did was cry. Daryl decided to name her "Lil Ass Kicker" until Rick and Carl came up with an actual name.
Elle was laying in her bed, asleep, when Ass Kickers crying rang through the prison. Elle slowly opened her eyes. "It is way to early for this." She complained into her pillow. She put the pillow over her head in attempt to drown out the sound, and go back to sleep. It didn't work, big surprise. She sat up a little too quickly and hit her head. "Dammit." She said, rubbing her forehead. Beth was calming the baby girl down, and was pretty good at it. Elle could hear her talking to someone as she pulled a grey tshirt over her head.
"We're gonna need more formula."
"Maggie and I were gonna go on a run." She heard Glenn's voice. She practically bolted out of her cell.
"Can I come? Pleeese?" She begged. Glenn gave her a look that said 'no'. Elle looked at the baby in Beth's arms. "Please." She repeated sternly. Glenn rolled his eyes and gave in. Elle ran back up the stairs and grabbed her gun and knife. She put them in her holsters before grabbing a blue flannel. She happily made her way down the stairs, seeing Glenn and Maggie waiting for her.
They said their goodbyes and drove to the nearest pharmacy/convenience store. The car ride was quiet, as nobody had any conversation starters. The smooth road was lined with never ending trees. The car drove by a single walker every once in a while.
After what felt like forever, they finally reached their destination. Glenn went inside to make sure it was clear, while Elle and Maggie made sure no walkers were trying to creep inside. Elle scanned as far as she could see, no walkers in sight.
"Glenn, get that duck." Maggie said. Elle turned around. "Get that duck." Maggie repeated with a huge smile on her face. Glenn grabbed the duck toy. "A kid growing up in a prison is gonna need some toys." Maggie explained as we walked in. Elle grabbed a red shopping basket and made her way to the back. She shown her flashlight on every sign, until she got to the one that read 'Pharmacy'.
"Jackpot!" She claimed.
"What'd you find?" Glenn asked.
"Tons of medicine." She grunted as she lifted the metal door and climbed over the counter. She started looking through what they might need. Antibiotics, tylenol, motrin, aspirin, advil, everything you could imagine.
"Found tons of baby formula, mustards, canned goods." Glenn said as they walked back to the entrance.
"Should be a straight shot back home." Maggie said. Elle grabbed a few things off the nearest shelf, but was interrupted by a voice. A very familiar voice.
"Where is it you folks call home?" Elle dropped her basket and looked at Glenn to see if he heard the same thing. By the shocked look on his face, he did. The three instantly went for their guns.
"Merle?" Glenn asked. Maggie knew who Merle was, but she never met him.
"Whoa!" Merle chuckled at the sight of an old 'friend'. Elle stepped out from behind Glenn. "Oh look at you!" He chuckled. The girl just rolled her eyes. With Merle's arms in the air, they all paid attention to the long, sharp blade attached to where his hand used to be.
"Oh, you like it? I found a warehouse and fixed it up myself!" He exclaimed. Elle didn't believe him. He tried to step closer.
"Not one step closer, asshole!" Maggie shouted.
