Things in a world like this, where the world isn't the world anymore, it's just a planet, a rock, somewhere in the universe, things go wrong, and only go wrong.
The universe liked to punish people, even when they hadn't done anything wrong. Elle was one of those people. She opened her eyes and the first thing she saw was a ceiling. But where was she?
She sat up, realizing she was in a bed. Looking around the room, she soon learned she was in a hospital room. Elle turned to the right to look out of a huge window.
She pulled the blanket off of her legs and used the I.V. fluid stand to help her get up. She gained a tight grasp on the cold metal bar, forcing her feet to support her as she slowly stood up. She could feel the cold aluminum flooring through her socks.
She walked over to the big window that took up the entire wall, and looked at the outside world. For a small second, when she had first woken up, she thought the end of the world was just a nightmare she had. And maybe Cody would still be alive. But looking out the window, seeing the fallen city of Atlanta, she soon realized her nightmare had only gotten worse. Besides knowing she was in Atlanta, she had no idea where she was.
The city looked worse than it did at the start. At the start, buildings were burnt out, looked abandon, and walkers creeped around every inch of the streets. Now? Some building had collapsed, they had moss growing on the sides, instead of looking abandoned, it looked as if nobody had ever been there. From where she was standing, even though she had a great view of the city, Elle couldn't spot a single walker.
A knock on the wooden door behind her caught her attention. Panicking, she took out the I.V. that was inserted into her left arm and held it up like a tiny sword. The door opened, revealing a doctor and a cop.
"Why does everyone resort to the I.V.?" The cop asked, signaling Elle to put the needle down. Elle stared into the woman's eyes before complying, dropping the needle, letting it hit the ground. "No need to be scared, we're here to help." The woman paused, "Can you tell us your name?" Elle didn't say anything. She didn't know who these people were, or how she got here. "Hon, you need to tell us your name. I'm Officer Dawn Lerner. Now you."
"Elle." The blonde said quietly, but loud enough for Dawn to hear. Dawn raised an eyebrow, wanting her last name as well. "Elle Clarke." She nodded, turning to the doctor that stood in the doorway. He stepped forward.
"I'm Doctor Edwards." He introduced as he shined a flashlight in her eyes. She winced at the sudden brightness. "How long have you been out there?"
"Since the start." She lied. "Where is the rest of my group?" She asked, looking at the two adults.
"When we found you, you were alone." Dawn said with a soft voice. Elle wasn't buying it though.
"When you found me?"
"We found you, on the side of the road. You were trying to fight of a small group of the dead ones, you don't remember?" Elle wasn't believing anything that came out of this woman's mouth. She didn't remember fighting off walkers, but that's probably because she wasn't.
"Guess not." She mumbled.
"We helped you out there, we saved you. You owe us."

Elle had been given a set of greenish maybe light blue scrubs to change into. She took off the annoying hospital gown that someone must've put her in. The thought of someone undressing and dressing her unconscious body made her shudder.
She slipped into the given scrubs and looked at herself in the mirror of the bathroom she currently stood in. Her hair was frizzy, as stray hairs shot up from the blonde curls on her head. She had stitches overlapping her right eyebrow. What happened to her? She remembers being hit in the back of her head, but not the front. Did they hurt her more to make her believe the bullshit story about her fighting off walkers? That's pretty messed up, but she wasn't going to confront anybody about it. She was too busy trying to figure out where she was, and how the group would find her.
