Previously: "We're all okay," He paused. "You know, we've gotten pretty close since Atlanta." I nodded. "I feel comfortable telling you that-" Glenn said, but he was cut off.
It's been a few days. Elle and her brothers are all caught up, Sky was pretty normal and everyone trusted her, Rick was back from his depressed state, everyone was fine. Mostly.
Maggie was still a little tense and she's been lashing out at Glenn sometimes. Elle is still pissed about the fact that she was taped to a chair and beaten, but who wouldn't be upset about that. Rick has been trying to prepare the group for incase this Governor hits back, which is guaranteed considering they shot the town up. They've been reinforcing the entrances, the catwalk, everything. It was busy and quiet.
Hershel had went out in the feild, to see how the soil was doing and ready for farming after this winter passes. Rick had gone off doing who knows what. With Daryl gone, that leaves Glenn in charge.
"Beth, take these up to the catwalk." He instructed, handing her a few cases of ammunition. "Elle, you can-""I'm taking watch." The blonde cut him off.
"Elle, don't-"
"I'm taking watch," she repeated. "I'm fine, Glenn." She claimed as she picked a gun up from the table where weapons were spread out.
"Fine. But bring these up." He said, handing her a box of bullets. She took them and walked outside. It was a bit chilly, as the winter winds were setting in. She pulled her flannel closer to her body as she slowly made her way towards the guard tower. With the gun hanging off her shoulder by the strap, it tapped her leg as she took each step. As she got closer to the tower, she heard another pair of footsteps start to walk beside her. She turned to see the brown haired girl.
"What's up?" She asked.
"You going on watch?" Sky asked.
"Yup. I need time to think." Elle said as she reached the metal door. Sky took the signal, and left her alone. Elle opened the door and walked in. She slowly climbed the ladder, as her shoulder was still sore. After what felt like ages of climbing, she made it to the top. She pushed the latch open and pulled herself up. Once she got her feet in, she stood up, dusting the dirt off her pants. Though it was no use because they don't have the luxury of a washing machine. She closed the latch and walked outside. She could see the whole yard.
Hershel, poking and prodding at the ground, Rick over by the stream, Carol and Axel having a conversation on the court. Everyone was doing their own thing.
What if Elle was meant to be kidnapped by Merle? It sounds weird, but think about it. If she wasn't, she wouldn't have found her brothers. Family is everything, especially during these times where you depend on not only yourself, but your family to survive. Finding her brothers was supposed to happen. How it happened wasn't exactly fun, but she did find them.
The girl skimmed over the yard. This place could become something. Their group isn't the only group of people left, obviously, there was a whole town. But more people could come and stay. Food would run out quicker, but with more people, means more supply runs, which means they could get further out. If Hershel says the soil is good, they can farm. The stream is doing a good job of supplying water now, and if there aren't any droughts anytime soon, it'll get stronger and more water will run through.
Elle heard a small laugh and looked down to see Sky and Carl talking. That agitated her a little bit, but why? Carl was allowed to have other friends, Elle had no control over that. He could have a girlfriend, but who is Elle to judge? Why the hell was Sky laughing so much?
"Please, we all know I'm the funny one." Elle scoffed. She turned her attention to Carol and Axel. Acel had earned their trust, and it was good to see Carol smile. She hasn't done a lot of smiling since Sophia first went missing, it only got worse after the barn. All of a sudden, a bullet flew the air and through Axle's forehead. It knocked his body back, lifeless. What the hell?
Elle immediately used the scope of her gun to try and find out what happened. That's when she saw the trucks making their way closer to the prison. As she was about to shoot, a small *clink* caught her attention. She looked behind her, where the noise was, and saw a small, round, green colored object. She quickly, very quickly realized what it was. A grenade. Though she wasn't quick enough, because it went off, throwing her body. Before she could process what was happening, she let out a yell as her body was thrown over the railing. She was now dangling from a railing, nearly 100 feet off the ground.
Broken glass flew at her as the explosion shattered the windows. Just my luck she thought to herself as she used all her arm and core strength to keep from falling. Everyone else was started to gather their weapons and fire back.
"Elle!" A voice yelled from below. It was Carl. She wanted to yell back, but her chest would give out, making her fall. So she instead focused on holding herself up. Bullets were flying everywhere, everyone was shouting, it was chaos. Suddenly, Elle got the "genius" idea to try and bring herself back up. She used her core and leg strength to swing her left leg as high as she could. It took many tries, but she got her foot up. Now, she has her arms and her left leg on the railing, if she could just get her right leg up. She could pull herself back and over the railing. How would she do that though?
She was thinking for longer than she thought because everyone was quiet now. She turned her head in the same direction as everyone else when she heard another truck. Though it was smaller and drove through the fence. Everyone just stared as the white and orange truck stopped in the middle of the field. After a few seconds of intense silence, the door was dropped. Walkers poured out and started flooding the grass. Someone fired a few more shots, Elle's leg caught a bullet. Though it only skimmed her thigh. It burned, a lot. Suddenly, her left leg and right arm lost their grasp. She now depended on her left arm to keep her alive.
"Elle!" Carl yelled....again. A man was quick to run over. Elle couldn't get a good look, as the man ran very fast. She watched him disappear through the metal door. She could feel everyone's eyes just staring at her. The noise of the latch being opened made her tighten her grip. Glass was shoved around and the man revealed himself. It was Daryl Fucking Dixon.
"The hell-?" She was cut off by Daryl grabbing her arm that was holding on and lifted her over the railing. She was quick to thank him by embracing him in a hug. When she pulled away, he looked at her leg. "It's just a graze, I'm fine-" She insisted.
"Nah, it'll bleed out." He said, scooping her up bridal style.
"Oh- okay." Elle said, taken by surprise at how easy he just plucked her off the ground.

Everyone was inside. It was intense. Rick was set on making a plan, Hershel had treated Elle's wounds, Daryl was back. But he wasn't alone. No, his annoying brother, Merle, was now in a cell, in the prison. The prison that Rick swore Merle wasn't going to step foot in. Yet here we are.
Yes, Merle was with the Governor, but Merle is also very loyal to his brother, so he might be very, very, loud and annoying, but as long as Daryl is with us, so is Merle.
