04. On the Run.

Song above: Jar of Heart by Christina Perri (super cheesy and cliche I know but I feel like it fits the feel of this chappie, you dig?)

"Dear Cheshire,

I hate you. I hate you. I hate you.

But, as much as I dislike you, I still love you because you are my brother. Sadly, I cannot take this anymore. Your criticism. Your bossiness. There is no more space to be myself. You have squashed all that I am, all that I ever could have been.

Which is why I am leaving.

Don't come looking for me. I will make it impossible for you to find me. I don't know if I will ever return. Who knows...

Maybe you will become a better person, or, uh, feline, over these next few years.

Sincerely,
Kit"

Finishing up the letter, I taped it to our front door. I then walked into the house, grabbing a very tiny box. Proceeding to my room, I pulled out my favorite clothing items from my wardrobe and shrunk them into the box. I also decided to change into a tan, lacy dress that hugged my figure and put a dark brown overcoat over it.

Staring into my mirror, I wiped off any blood left on my face with a cloth, took the bandage off from my head and cleaned the wound, positioning my jet black wild hair over the wound.

Okay, my hair is back in shape. Taking one last final look at myself, I stared at my neon blue eyes. I looked like a freak compared to most people. I wanted to changed that... Hold on a second! I wonder if I could?

Darting into Chesh's room, I looked for a specific spell. After ten minutes of searching, I found a spell called "Shimmer." It said,"Hold an object that holds sentimental value to you up to the moon. Chant the words hanky panty doodle danky five times while imagining what you want to look like. After you are done, either wear the object or put it in your pocket. Tap it once and you will look like who you want to be, tap it again and you will revert to your original self."

"Easy enough," I whispered to myself. Searching through my closet, I pulled a ribbon off of one of my mothers dresses. She was wearing it on the night she died but wanted to be changed into a different dress for her burial. A pang of sadness struck me deep, the memory of my mother's death making tears blurr my vision. Shaking my head to clear the tears away, I shrunk a few magic books into another small box, heading out into the night.

After and hour of walking, I made it to a hilltop in the middle of a field. The moon was like a gem fixed into the black night sky. Holding up the crimson ribbon, I repeated the words,"Hanky Panky doodle danky," five times, probably looking like a complete fool. I focused on how I wanted to look: neon blue eyes with normal human pupils, human ears instead of cat ears, no tail, and no claws. Otherwise, the rest of me looked quite human.

Once the spell was done, the ribbon started shimmering for a moment and then looked normal again. Wrapping it around my neck, I tied it into a bow, rubbing it with my hands to test if the shimmer worked. I patted my face with my hands and discovered no whiskers or any other cat like features. I now looked completely normal. Wonderful. Time to search for a place to sleep, since the wind was picking up, making the night more chilly than usual.

As the night went on, I walked an walked, venturing out into the town. Finally, I spotted the library which was next to a bakery. The bakery's roof was shorter than the library's roof, and a small street lamp rested in front of the bakery. I simply shimmied up the lamp onto the bakery roof and darted up to the roof of the library.

A long time ago, I knocked a small hole into the roof on a night like this when no on was about. This hole leads into a secret room which is behind a huge bookcase. No one remembers it because it is thousands of years old and I just happened to discover it. I knocked the hole into the roof because I found the old blueprints of the library and kept them for myself. No one visits the roof, so the hole was the best entry to the room.

Thankfully avoiding falling on my face when jumping in from the hole, I scoped the room for any changes to make sure no one had entered. A thick film of dust covered everything, so I knew no one had been here except for me. Pulling my small dufflebag from a corner, I set up camp for the night, my eyes quickly shutting once my head hit the soft interior of my sleeping bag. Tomorrow would be a long day.
