Library Happenings

Today was my day off, so I decided to hang out in the library. The smell of books allowed me to escape to another place where I didn't live in a musty old van that probably wouldn't be working for much longer...

The library was quiet and empty except for the sleeping librarian at her desk, which I was thankful for. I knew that nobody would be interrupting my time.

I went to the very back of the library, scanning the shelves for a new book to read. My eyes instantly spotted a rather large leather book that poked off of the shelf. Once Upon a Time it read on the front. There was almost no dust on this book, so I knew it must've been read recently.

Sitting down on the floor in front of the shelf, I looked at the back of the book to see if there was a summary... And there wasn't. Odd. I opened the book to a random page, a large picture of a very handsome man greeting me.

"Captain Hook was no pirate to ever get in the way of, that was for sure," read the small paragraph of words underneath the picture. The man had dark, uncombed hair that freely stuck up in some places, complementing his facial features. His eyes matched the color of his hair, and looked even darker from the eye liner surrounding them.

Pirates and their eyeliner...

The man looked strikingly familiar, although I wasn't sure from where.

As I sat and thought for a while longer, I heard the door to the library click shut.

That's odd, no one comes here except for me... Unless Emma decided to do some exploring?

Shaking off my curiosity, I turned my eyes back to the page to study the picture some more. I decided to turn to the next page to learn more about this pirate whom looked so familiar.

"Hook could kill anyone without even trying, and he only had the toughest crew. He was known throughout the lands as a very tough and harsh man, until the day he met a girl who would soften his heart forever. Her name was K-"

My reading was suddenly interrupted by the sound of someone clearing their throat, and I lifted my head immediately.

There stood a man, specifically the man who was following me two days ago!

Wait, no, he was- the pirate!?

My eyes darted up and down from the page and the man, and I realized that they were wearing the same outfit!

I instantly stood up, afraid and confused about who this man was and why he kept following me.

"Do-do you remember me?" He asked, his voice deep and cold. His eyes were locked onto mine and I felt my voice get stuck in my throat.

I might not have been able to say words, but I could hear them, and they were Run.

This man-or Hook, saw the change in my eyes and instantly knew I was about to dart. "Don't-" he began, loosing the words as I sprinted around the shelf.

"Run,"he said quieter, as if he was dissapointed. Then he followed in pursuit of me, his heavy boot thuds echoing throughout the shelves. I could see him behind me in the corner of my eye, so as I got to the end of the book shelve and got ready to round the corner I turned and slammed the book into his face, then continued fleeing. I could hear him groan in anger as he grabbed the book before it hit his foot. Hook then groaned louder in frustration as he threw the book at my head, barely missing it!

Whimpering, I continued dashing to the door, but Hook had taken another route and was now almost in front of it. Instead I turned on my heel almost instantly and rounded another book shelf, exiting his view.

As he left the door and bounded after me again, I chose to wait behind a shelf in an area where I could see him almost but he couldn't see me. As he ran down the area opposite my shelf I shoved on it hard with my arms, sending it tumbling down on Hook. He groaned in pain and I ran back to the door, not actually looking to see if he had gotten trapped under the shelf.

As I grabbed onto the handle I looked back at the library once more, hoping to see if Hook was down or not.

I nearly screamed as I saw the librarian at her desk, lifeless eyes open with terror and a knife buried into her throat.

This man is a monster.
