Breaking his heart.

"Hyah!" The prince shouted, kicking his horse into motion. I yelped and began to run, using a spell to make myself run faster. Currently, I was being chased down by Prince Charming because I tried to steal his horse.

What he doesn't know, is that I am leading him to the evil queen. Here in the enchanted forest, money isn't an easy thing to come by, and I desperately needed it, for living at the Five Orks Inn was not cheap. Apparently, the Evil Queen had heard of my magic skills after a few months of being in the Enchanted Forest, and she wanted my help getting revenge on Snow White.

I denied this offer a first, but then she offered such a hefty pay... And I new I did not have any other choice, besides becoming a prostitute. So, I took the offer, much to my dislike. She wanted me to lead Charming to her and she would take care of the rest.

He chased me for a few miles when I arrived at a calm river. The queen was waiting in a cave nearby, so she heard my arrival. I stopped dead in my tracks, feigning dehydration, while charming halted his horse to a stop.

"Stop! I demand you to put your hands up, you thief! You are under arrest for..."

Regina abruptly cut him off, walking out of the cave an aiming a fireball at him. "She is under arrest for nothing. Get off your horse and put your hands up, or I'll cook you!"

Eyes wide, Charming slowly got off his horse, hands up. I smiled menacingly, turning to the queen expectantly. Holding out a large bag of coins, she announced,"Your money, Kit. Thank you for your business."

After she set the bag in my hands, I curtsied to her. Then I began to walk towards Charming, passing him, but not before dropping a crystal in his his hand, whispering,"throw this at her."

The queen didn't notice, for she was too busy checking that her cleavage sat right in her dress. Charming furrowed his eyebrows but clenched the crystal.

Passing the steed, I walked around a corner into a large grouping of trees where the queen nor Charming could see me and I watched the scene fold out.

The queen blabbed on and on about how she would have Charming break Snow's heart while Charming prepared himself to throw the crystal. Regina had taken a pause to check her nails, which Charming took advantage of. He quickly threw the crystal, running to his horse and taking off, not looking back to see what it had done to Regina.

The crystal had landed on her head, shattering into millions of pieces, creating a time lock around her. Regina wouldn't be able to move for another four hours.

I teleported to the Five Orks Inn, paying the owner some of the rent I had missed before heading up to my room.

Approaching the plain brown door, I noticed that the small paper I usually stuck at the bottom of it was laying on the floor. I had placed it there five days previous, for I realized that Hook and his men were probably searching for me, and they even had my ribbon. Containing enough magic to track me down, the scarlet ribbon was probably one of the worst things for me to leave behind.

Someone had found me, and I had to hide quickly, for footsteps were approaching the door! My eyes darted around for a possible hiding spot when I noticed a cleaning supply closet across from my room. Yanking it open, I slipped inside and noiselessly shut it, breathing a sigh of relief.

"Gotcha, kitten." A British accent laughed into my ear. I yelped as an arm wrapped around me and a hook was placed at my collar bone.

His breath fanned my neck as he said,"you think you can escape me so easily, doll? How adorable."

I began to huff, desperate to escape his grip. "I knew leaving the ribbon was a mistake!"I seethed,"of course you would use the magic on It to find me..."

Hook paused, wrinkling his eyebrows. "The ribbon? No, I didn't use that. I just tracked you down, it was obvious you would stay here. I told the lady at the front desk I was your husband and that I was meeting you here. She opened the room for me so I could wait for you! Isn't it clever, dear?" He mused.

After two moments of me not saying anything and trying to escape his grip desperately, he got annoyed and pinned me against the janitors closet door, locking it in the process.

"You have two options, love. Regina is going to enact a curse in the next two days that will send almost all of us into an alternate world where we won't remember anything,"he Began, leaning so close to my face that I could feel each of his words on my lips,"there is a very small part of the enchanted forest that the curse won't reach. You can come and stay with me on my ship and I will sail you there with me, and we can live there together." He finished, looking at me expectantly.

Hook wanted me to take that option, judging by the hunger in his eyes and the way he was licking his lips. Oh, and the fact that he was about to kiss me.

Unfortunately, I am not that easily persuaded.

"The other option?"

He sighed deeply, turning on his heel to face away from me. Clear disappointment and hurt in his voice, he replied dryly,"or you can stay here and leave me, never to remember yourself again."

I looked at the old, rickety floor beneath my feet, kicking my boot. "Hook, you barely even know me! I barely know you... I'm not meant for anyone, in fact, I think I was made to be alone. That's just the purpose the universe has set out for me. I don't want to be the one in the way of your happiness." Hook turned, raising his hand to protest, but I stopped him.

"My whole life, my brother has hidden me from others the best he could. There must be a reason for that, a reason why I'm not good enough to exist to other people! Your obviously meant for someone better than me. Please, don't ruin your life by going after me, it's a waste." I finished, unlocking the door and pulling it open.

Hook reached out to grab me, sputtering desperately, but I turned to him, changing my attitude. If I have to break his heart to keep him safe, then that is what I will do.

I narrowed my eyes, adding a seething tone to my voice. "Besides, why would I want to stay with a pirate like YOU!" I shouted, secretly hurting on the inside. I don't want to do this to Hook, but it's the only option. He deserves happiness.

Killian seemed taken aback, almost surprised by my suddet outburst. "You... you don't mean that. YOU BLOODY DON'T MEAN THAT!" He roared back, desperately grabbing for my arm.

I swung it back viciously, slapping him square in the jaw.

"This may come as a surprise to you,"I began, hissing,"but I NEVER loved you! NEVER. It was all a play, my dear pirate. I wanted your treasure, and I most certainly got it. Now off with you, I've already beaten you."

Killian's eyes swirled with a mix of emotion, like he knew I was lying but that he was also wondering if my words were true. Staring me down, he slowly got up from when I slapped him, rubbing his cheek. Then he called his men, and walked away, sending me hateful glances as he trailed down the stairs.

Painful truth: I am in love with Killian Jones. But in order to keep the ones you love the most safe, you have to hurt them.
