𝔈𝔩𝔶𝔰𝔢 is sitting in her room, when an owl flies through the window, holding a small package. As the owl drops the package it increases in size and the owl lands on the chair next to the bed. Elyse smiles as she recognises the white owl from her mother and opens the package to reveal a note accompanied by a dress. She opens the note and reads over it.

Dear Elyse,
I heard that you're going to the Yule Ball with Draco. Whatever happened to never wanting to go with him? I always knew you and him couldn't resist each other. Call it a motherly instinct. Since you will be going with a Slytherin I thought I'd give you a dress I once wore when I went to a Ball organised by your grandparents. I went ahead and modified it to your taste, but the signature snake stays intact. The matching shoes should be under.
Love,
Your Mother.
P.S. Your father approves of the date choice.

She chuckles softly and puts the note down, before taking the dress out. She holds it against herself and  looks in the mirror. It's a long dark blue dress, which she imagined used to be green. She noticed a long slit in the front that would probably reach her mid thigh. She holds the dress at arms length and inspects the back. True to her words, the snake was indeed intact. It formed the backbone of the dress and was held together by golden chains attached to the dress, making it an open back dress.

She hangs the dress up and closes the closet behind, to make sure no one sees it when they walk into the room. She looks again in the box and finds the shoes. They were black heels, snake skin patterned with a golden snake wrapping around the ankles. Elyse couldn't help but chuckle to herself before she puts the shoes away. She sits down at her desk and starts writing her own letter back.

Dear mother,
You've outdone yourself once again. The dress is beautiful. But must I always remind you that Draco is just a friend, nothing more. We're going to the ball as friends. And after we will go to Hogsmead, for the weekend, as friends may I add.
Love,
Your Daughter.

She folds the paper, before putting it in an envelope and walking up to the white owl, handing it the note. She softly brushes her fingers over its feather, before it flies out the same window it came in. Elyse smiles softly, before putting the empty packages aside, just as someone knocks at her door. She opens it and smiles at her visitor.

"So, our parents know about the Yule Ball." Draco muses as he walks past her into the room, making her close the door behind.

"You also received a lovely letter?" She asks, as she takes a seat on her bed, and he simply lies down on it.

"Yes. Along with the whole outfit." He chuckles, causing her to do the same as she leans back and lays on her side next him, resting her head on his shoulder, which makes him wrap his arms around her.

"Well, looks like we're all set then." She muses, making him hum as he closes his eyes. She fiddles with his tie, which he loosened before coming here. "Draco?"

"Yes."

"Why did you ask me to go to the Yule Ball?" She asks softly, making him open his eyes and looks down at her.

"Because you're my best friend. And there is no one better than you to go with." He says nonchalantly, making her heart flutter. She knew he meant that in a friendly way, but it meant the world to her.

"Or you just had no one else other than me and Pansy, so you rather chose me." Elyse says teasingly, making him chuckle as he closes his eyes again.

"You're right. Now, let me sleep will ya?" He asks, causing her to snort, but she decides not to reply and just let him sleep. Elyse also closes her eyes, letting herself fall asleep as she holds tightly on to him.
