The rest of my school day went by quickly and smoothly. Although, I realized one thing, university was no game and I had a lot to do to be on top of my game, not to mention I already felt overwhelmed and a little bit threatened, however I was up to the task, who didn't like a good educational challenge?
I managed to avoid Alaric, who was in all of my classes and in every corner that I turned. I mean, he did say that he was also a plant pathology major so that would explain why I was seeing him so often, hopefully I'd be able to avoid him for the rest of the semester. I was too optimistic, let's just start with avoiding him for the rest of the week, that was a more realistic goal.
It was evening by the time my last class was over. I walked around the campus aimlessly taking in the scenery, when I got a message from Hazel.
Hazel: Hey Sophia what you doing?
Sophia: just finished my last class. What's up?
Hazel: you mind coming over to Sara's place?
Sophia: a party on a Monday night?
Hazel: lol no, it's just me and her. come through. I'm going to send you the location before you get lost.
Sophia: Lol okay.
A few minutes later I was walking up the steps to Sara's apartment, it was closer than I had remembered, but every place was far when you don't know where you are going. The door was already opened, I entered to see Hazel and Sara sitting on the sofa having a conversation.
"I'm just not sure how to go about the situation, do I do something about it or do I let it happen naturally?" Hazel asked Sara.
"The best things happen naturally, I'm not sure why you're overthinking this," Sara snapped "it's not that big of a deal."
"Easy for you to say," Hazel pouted, "you're a natural and you know..."
"Hey you made it," Sara interrupted Hazel as she noticed my presence at the door. Hazel looked up in surprise then smiled.
"I didn't get lost," I chuckled awkwardly. What conversation did I interrupt?
"It's good to know that you can follow the maps," Hazel humored, "come sit," she patted a spot on the couch, I took the directed seat in between her and Sara.
"So, what's going on here?" I asked cluelessly.
"We're just chilling," Sara giggled.
"And we decided to invite you," Hazel added
"That was thoughtful of you guys," I grinned
"Sure, you're our friend," Hazel said. Friend, that actually warmed my heart to hear. I still didn't think that I was able to trust them fully, but I was getting there, it was a work in progress.
"So, Sophia, I was talking to Hazel earlier about your hair, how did you get it that way?" Sara asked.
"I got it done at a salon back home," I said "And I straighten it every now and then, my hair is naturally curly."
"Is it curly like mine?" Hazel asked touching her kinky curly hair.
"My curls are much looser."
"That salon must have been top class, I wouldn't even say that your hair was curly," Sara marveled as she touched my now straightened hair. Thinking about it I hadn't worn my hair in its natural state in a while, it was time for me to change it up.
"Right," Hazel chimed in with a hint of amusement in her voice.
"To be more specific, it was Taylour's salon," it wouldn't hurt if I offered up that information, right? I doubt that they would try to use it against me. I could trust these girls, right?
