"Exams are so stressful," Taylour face palmed.
"I know right, I hate it, I'm so happy that I only have one more semester to go," Sara bragged subtly as she concentrated on the material in front of her. The five of us were seated at the library, preparing for our end of semester exams, which will commence a couple of days from now. After the day that I decided to let Taylour and Khan hang with us, we had all been hanging together since then. It was ironic how I went from being afraid that I wasn't going to have friends in college to actually creating a friend group. So far it had been chill, I had no more doubts about Sara and Hazel., those two were keepers. Taylour and Kahn however were cooler than I expected, and they fit in with us just fine. I hoped that I wouldn't regret my decision in the long run.
"I'm already scared enough as it is," I rolled my eyes at Sara and Taylour.
"Don't worry about it you got this," Hazel told me.
"She's such a smart girl," Khan said.
I wish I had the faith that you guys have in me." I replied. Khan shrugged.
"Why is college even a thing?" Khan said.
"Meaning?" Hazel asked. As the rest of us stared at Khan like he was a crazy person.
"Why do we have to study to pass exams? Like after we are done with college we aren't even gonna remember this shit. Also who's to say that we get jobs in our current majors?" Khan reasoned.
"Did you smoke before you came here? Are you okay? Blink twice if you need help." Taylour placed her hand on Khans shoulder, while the rest of us including Khan laughed.
"In a couple of years, my words are going to come back to you guys and you'll realize that I was right." Khan smiled.
"Shut up," Taylor said playfully.
"Okay Khan, we get it, can we just focus on studying right now?" Sara said. We all went quiet and got back to what we were doing. Sara was under alot of pressure seeing that it was her final semester. Despite the fact that we all majored in different subject areas, it was nice having a support group to keep on track. A part of me missed Alaric, I missed studying with him. Especially since we had the same major, we would have been able to help each other greatly. It had been a little over a month since Alaric and I last spoke, since the time that I dropped the news, or I should say since the time that he figured out everything. I think what hit him the most was the fact that I spent a whole week with my ex, and tried to cover it. I was not proud of my decisions, but I had to own up to my wrongdoings. I sighed, taking a small break from my books as my mind zoned out thinking about Alaric. Suddenly, like clockwork, Alaric entered the library, we made brief eye contact, then he looked away abruptly and went on his way. My heart skipped a beat, I felt so sad, I understood that Alaric needed a break to think, to wrap his mind around everything, but how long would he need? I had respected his wishes and not texted, or called him, however at this point I had no idea where I stood with him. I was beginning to think that it was really over.
"You okay?" Hazel put her hand on my shoulder and spoke softly, so that no one else would hear but me. I nodded. "He still isn't talking to you?" she asked.
"Nope," I pouted.
"He will come around, are you sure you didn't do anything to upset him?" Hazel asked. I hadn't told Hazel the full extent of Alaric's break from me, that would have required me to tell her the details. Those details that I wanted to bury for good, there was no way that I would tell anyone about it again, with the risk of being judged. I had just told her that he said he needed some time away from me to think about what exactly he wanted.
