Chapter 1 - The Virgin Gary

**IMPORTANT MESSAGE DOWN AT BOTTOM**

3rd Person POV

The car waits on the top floor of a vacant parking garage at 8:30 pm 

Jax and Brooklyn are sitting in the front seat with Jax in the driver's seat 

It's silent 

"What are you not telling me?" Jax asks gently

"What?" Brooklyn asks 

"What are you not telling me?" Jax asks again. "These two months have been great but I've felt you...pulling away."

Brooklyn sighs, putting her phone down

"It's probably gonna screw something up in the timeline but..." Brooklyn starts, turning to face him. "When we were fighting Mallus...well, you were there too."

"What?" Jax asks 

"But...you were from 5 years in the future." Brooklyn says. She wipes a tear away. "Um, you got married...you had a baby..." She trails off, looking down

It's silent as Jax processes 

"I'm sorry..." Jax whispers 

"You don't have to be." Brooklyn tells him, looking down at her hands. "I told you to move on and...and you did." 

It's silent again as Brooklyn sniffles

Then, Jax reaches over and gently lifts Brooklyn's chin so she as looking him in the eyes. Jax holds Brooklyn's hand and kisses it  

"No matter what...just know that I will always love you." Jax tells her. "You and our baby girl."

"I love you too..." Brooklyn whispers, linking her pinkie with his. "Soulmates."

"Soulmates..." Jax whispers

They kiss gently 

Then, Brooklyn's phone pings and lights up with a text message from Sara and the two pull away

"They're here." Brooklyn says, wiping her tears 

Brooklyn gets out of the passenger seat, looking out at the area. The stars shine above and the cool air is crisp as she throws her backpack over both shoulders

She looks back into the car

"I'll be right back." Brooklyn tells Jax

Jax nods

Brooklyn closes her door gently

As she makes her way forwards, the waverider materializes

The cargo bay door opens and out walks Sara along with Nate

Sara hugs Brooklyn and pulls away, holding her hands

"You look great." Sara tells her

"Thanks." Brooklyn says, smiling

Nate gives Brooklyn a hug next

"Where is she?" Nate asks excitedly, pulling away

"In the car." Brooklyn says, pointing with her thumb behind her. "Jax is saying goodbye."

"Okay." Nate says, nodding. "Oh, I can take that." Nate says, gesturing to Brooklyn's backpack

"Oh, I got it." Brooklyn says. "Can you get my other bag though? It's in the trunk."

"Sure." Nate says, making his way past Brooklyn

"Say hi to Jax for me." Sara calls after him and he gives her a thumbs up
