now playing: control by halsey
Yuki took a deep breath and closed her eyes as a large robot made it's way to her. with all the other students rushing around her and the screaming, she tried her best to focus. She quickly created a daydream-like idea of what she thought the main pressure point would look like. She imagined a dazy cord-and-wire like brain inside of the robot with an essence of iron and red braided rope. Yuki raised her hand, and locked the picture in her mind before opening her eyes. She let out another shaky breath, then harshly clenched her fists. Slowly the robot started to glitch: it stopped using its arms then it couldn't move its feet anymore. Soon enough, the robot came crashing down to the ground, rewarding yuki with three points.
"Holy moly, Yuki!" Yuki heard a voice breathe out from behind her. She twisted on her heels to see Kirishima. His black hair was matted to his forehead and his shirt was sticking to his torso. The sweat dripping down his body made his shirt darken in color. "What the hell is your quirk?"
Yuki smiled and jogged toward him. "It's called Harm and Heal."
"Harm and Heal?" Kirishima echoed, taking his eyes off of the girl for a moment to scope the area around them.
"I'll explain later." She grinned softly and swept her baby hairs out of her eyes.
Kirishima took a moment to look down upon the girl. Her white hair was thrown neatly into two space buns, keeping it out of her ice blue eyes. She stood quite short in stature, hovering just believe the average height. Kirishima smiled to himself as he admired the girl. He thought she was pretty; he thought she was pretty in a different way than most. Kirishima thought Yuki was pretty like cotton and silk. She was like clover and honey. He could tell by the way they already acted around each other that she was going to be a great friend, but he was unsure if she would ever be more. Although it was short, and could go unnoticed-- he saw the way her eyes lingered on the blond boy earlier in the day. It was a different stare than the one she gave him.
She looked at the blond with a willing curiosity, the way his being made her eyes widen was different then how she had looked at anyone else at the exam. She looked at him and light littered her face, whether she knew it or not. Kirishima wasn't sure what it was that made Yuki soften her eyes at that boy, but he was sure it wouldn't be the last of them.
"K-kirishima! Look out!" Yuki had trouble raising her voice, but made sure he heard her. A zero point robot was stumbling up behind the boy, who seemed to be stuck in a daydream.
"Huh?" Kirishima hummed and twisted behind him. He gasped and hardened his arms in case he needed to block an attack.
The robot lifted his foot and went to step on him but Yuki took a sharp inhale and charged toward him. It felt as though she couldn't control her own feet; she was running toward the danger even if her mind was telling her to stop. Yuki never strayed away from safety, but if Yuki knew anything it was that she couldn't just stand back and watch Kirishima get crushed. She reached her hands out quickly and pushed Kirishima out of the robot's way. She would be willing to take the pain.
He fell to the ground and landed on his ankle. "Ow!" He winced, hovering his hand over his ankle.
Yuki gulped and ran her eyes over the robot quickly. Normally, when she was in a one-on-one battle in close range, Yuki's quirk allowed her to see red outlines of the best bone in her opponent's body to break. It always ensured a win. She called this special move bone breaker. She had only used the special move once, and it wasn't on a robot that could destroy her in an instance.
The more Yuki focused on the robot, the more she started to notice. She gazed at the robot's knee joints and started to see a hazy, red outline. Her quirk was working. Yuki's lips pulled into a smile as she steadied her breathing. Then in one quick movement, Yuki jumped off her back leg and kicked at the joint harshly. Once back on her feet, Yuki watched the robot fall down.
"That robot wasn't even worth anything." She heard from behind her. Kirishima. Yuki whipped around and ran to attend to him. "And yet, you still took it out."
"You were in danger," Yuki spoke meekly as she avoided his eye contact. She sighed as she squatted down to him on the ground and offered her hands toward his ankle. "Can I?"
Kirishima sat up at a straighter angle and furrowed his brows. Once he realized what she was asking, he let go of his ankle. "Yeah, of course."
Yuki gently pressed her fingertips around his ankle, feeling for any possible fractures or breaks in the bone. She felt a soft smile slip onto her lips. "Just a sprain." Yuki murmured to him. "I can fix you up."
"You can?"
"Mhm." She hummed and began to softly massage his ankle. Kirishima bit down on his bottom lip, but cocked an eyebrow once he felt her hands warming up. He gasped at the red glow that her hands were giving off. "I'm not hurting you, am I?"
Kirishima shook his head. "No, don't worry."
A few short moments later, Yuki pulled back. "All done," She whispered and pushed some stray hairs behind her ear. Kirishima began to stand and slowly rotated his ankle. He was bracing himself for pain, but none came. His eyes lit up as he twisted to face Yuki.
"Holy shit! Yuki, that was amazing!" He cheered, then softened he looked up at her face. He reached out and slid his thumb under her nose. "You're bleeding."
"Oh, yeah that happens when I heal people." She shrugged and brought the back of her wrist up to her nose. She wiped the rest of the blood away. It stained her pale skin.
Kirishima smiled brightly and wrapped his arm around her shoulder. "Well, thank you so much, little one!"
Yuki looked away from him. "You're welcome."
A voice over the speakers announced that all of the robots were gone, and henceforth that the entrance exam had concluded. Yuki sighed heavily and finally took a deep breath.
"Awe, already?" Kirishima whined as he turned his head to the girl under his arm. "I guess there's no need to be sad though."
"Why not?" Yuki asked softly.
"Well because I know I'll see you in class in a few weeks." Kirishima laughed as though the answer had been obvious. The two started to walk toward the gate.
"I don't know." Yuki rubbed her fingers up and down her arms as she shuffled slowly out of the arena. "I'm not the most confident that I will hear back from U.A."
"Oh come on! None of that insecure stuff yuki, i'll see you in class and that's that." Kirishima expressed loudly and let go of her shoulder. He lightly touched her chin with his finger to bring her eyes back to him. "I'm sure of it, and besides... I think you and that blond kid have some silent, unfinished business."
