It had been a week since the doctor confirmed I was pregnant, about 4 weeks along then. I was due around middle to late February. Thanks to Severus' potion I wasn't having any morning sickness. With my pregnancy I would only be serving as a liaison with the students during the next school year. Severus and I would be leaving in the next week to prepare for the start of term. I was to have all the new students letters our by the end of July. Severus would be taking over my Defense against the Dark Arts classes.
Hermione would be traveling with us since she wanted to finish her final year. Ron and Harry had already decided to not go back and they were going to be starting their training in the Auror offices. Over the next week we prepared to leave, with me being pregnant Severus didn't want us apperating to Hogwarts so we would take the train. We would travel via floo power to the Leaky Cauldron and take the train the next morning.
Arriving on platform 9 3/4 brought back so many memories. I remember the first time Lily, Severus and I were there. We were so young, Lily and I being twins always seemed to be expected to do the same thing. It surprised everyone when we were sorted into different houses. No one knew back then but me that I choose to be in Slytherin so I could be close to Severus. So much had changed over the many years following our first days at Hogwarts. The world now was safe, lives were beginning again.
As we arrived at the platform in Hogsmead, Hagrid meet us. "Welcome back Headmaster," He said as he addressed Severus. "Welcome back Professor Snape and Hermione," He said as he addressed Hermione and I. Hearing myself be called Professor Snape thrilled me. 'Thank you Hagrid, how have you been,"I asked. "Wonderful, thank you for asking Professor," he said.
We made our way to the castle and I looked out over the grounds I felt such peace. This place held such a special place for us all. Friendships were made here, danger was fought, and lives were saved. Now with this new life growing inside me I couldn't be more thankful. As the carriage stopped, Severus exited and took my hand helping me out. As we stepped out into the courtyard I couldn't help but look at the place where the end of Voldemort came.
Hermione put her hand on my shoulder and said, "I know, it seems so surreal to be back here after everything." I looked over at her and said"Yes it is but now it is a place of beginnings."
As we all went and got settled in, I went to the look out in the Headmasters office. Looking out over the grounds I began to daydream, until the warm embrace of Severus' arms wrapped around me. He held me there for what felt like hours, the sun was high in the sky whick meant lunchtime. As we went down into the main chamner of the Headmasters office, I saw a table set for two with two long candles illuminating it. Severus guided me to my chair and held it out for me as I sat down he leaned in and kissed me.
After lunch I went and picked up the list of all the new students. As I was walking back to the staircase to Severus' office I noticed something flying in the distance. I went out to the courtyard and it seemed to be coming closer. Once it got to withing a hundred feet of me I recognized it was Fawkes. He came close to me and I raised my arm. He landed on my arm and looked at me with a kind of sad expression. "I know, I miss Dumbledore too,"I said to him. I brought my other hand up and he bowed his head as I pet him gently. Fawkes and I had been close during the times I had come reporting on Voldemort actions. When Dumbledore knew he was dying he had asked me to look after Fawkes when the time came. After Dumbledores death he had disappeared, now with him back I would make sure he was always safe with me.
"If you would like dear Fawkes, you can stay here with Severus and I." I said to him. He nodded and I carried him up to the Head masters office. When we arrived, I took out my wand and his perch appeared behind the desk. He flew over and took his place as Severus came down the stairs. "When did he arrive" Severus asked. "Just a few minutes ago while I was down getting the new students list" I told him. "Albus always said he wanted you to take care of Fawkes, you two always had a connection." He said.
The next few days consisted of Severus looking over the castle and the grounds and I getting all the letters ready for the new students and preparing the material and book lists for all returning students. When all school business was done we either sat and talked or took a walk on the grounds. We talked of times past, it was blissful looking at the man I saw in front of me he had changed so much since that night in May, He was happy and content with life. We talked about the baby and what we should name him. Decisions, Decisions.
The days became weeks and September was drawing close. We had only a few days before all the students would arrive. Severus had his welcoming speech prepared and Harry and Ron would be here for the festivities. Of course all the returning students would be happy to see Harry and the new students would get to meet the boy who Killed Voldemort..
Over the course of the school year we would have many guests come and lecture to the students. We felt it important for them to have a broader education then what previously was at Hogwarts. Remus would be coming later in the fall to lecture on being a Werewolf as would Tonks on her being a Metamophagus.
Harry and Ron arrived the morning of August 31st, they were going to stay in the guest quarters. We had breakfast together and Harry filled us in on his Auror training. It was so good to see him, I wish I could have been the one to raise him instead of Petunia. She and I were always so close when we were younger, but once we were excepted to Hogwarts she hated lily and I. Our parents said she was jealous because she didn't have magical bllod like us.
I will never forget the last time I saw her, it was the night Lily had died and Albus had me take Harry to her and swear a blood oath to raise and protect him. She was sad as I explained what happened, I even think I saw a glint of regret for the way she had treated us. I hugged her and told her I loved her and she would not remember me after I left. She smiled at me and said "Be careful," As she shut the door in my face. That was the last time I saw her.
I didn't feel the need since everything happened with Voldemort to reveal myself to her. As long as she was happy in her life, I would leave her alone. My family was Severus, Harry, the baby and our friends and students.
My belly was beginning to grow to a little pudge. As I stood looking out over the lake, I felt a hand on my small belly. Of course it was Severus, he never let me out of his sight for long. We were so in tune to each other that no matter where the other one was we would find them with no thought behind it. A chill was in the air and I felt myself shiver. He place his robe around me and lead me back into the warmth of the castle. Tomorrow was a big day.
