Song: Where Them Girls by Nikki Manaj
Chapter Forty-Three: Party-Pooper
***
[Ashley]
"Oh my god, this party is crazy!" Sadie grinned as she took in the sight around her. I had to agree. The place looked amazing. The main party was happening in the backyard, but the occasional person drifted into the house. They had a stage set up near the back door, a drum set and microphones set up. There were a few speakers placed strategically around the yard.
"Totally!" I agreed. There was currently music pumping through the speakers, probably all from Dixie's large collection on her laptop. Seriously, that girl collected music like no other.
"I heard she got a band!" Sadie giggled, waving to a random person. I rolled my eyes at my social butterfly of a best friend. "Like a real one. Not some random group from town, but like someone big!"
"Do you know who?" I asked curiously. I wondered if they were any good.
"Nah, she wouldn't tell me," she whined, smiling at some guy across the yard. Oh my god, she's such a flirt! "But I'm sure their good. Her parents would never let her hire crap musicians."
"Dix has always had great taste in music anyway," I pointed out as I took a drink from the table. There were multiple different types of beer set up on the long table as well as some regular sodas. Still feeling like crap, I decided to just stick to coca-cola.
"Yeah she has," Sadie agreed with a nod. Her eyes were trained on the same guy from before. I turned to him, looking for what had caught her attention. He was cute, sure, with his bleached blonde hair and brown eyes, but I couldn't help it as I began comparing him to Ashton.
I took a sip from my soda to keep from crying. I missed him so much it hurt.
"God, Sade," I forced a laugh as she practically eyed raped the blonde boy. She jumped startled at my outburst, turning to me sheepishly. "Go over there bitch!"
She laughed, shoving me lightly. Rolling my eyes, I pushed her in the direction of the boy again.
"Just get your ass over there and have fun," I insisted, running a hand through my hair. God, I couldn't handle this. I plastered a fake smile on my face and nodded. "Please don't miss out on the party just because I'm being a party pooper, Mercedes."
"Fine," she sighed, though I could see the excited glint in her eyes. "But call me if you need me, okay?"
"I will, I promise," I assured her, pushing her shoulder again. "Now go have fun with that blondie over there!"
She giggled, giving me a quick hug before pushing her way through the crowd. I watched her retreating figure for a minute. The boy's eyes lit up as she approached him and I could see a smile pulling at his lips. She always got that reaction from guys. Well, I mean why wouldn't she? She's gorgeous!
Sighing, I turned away in search of a quiet corner. I really just needed to think for a minute.
God, I really am a party pooper.
