Duskflower's Story

Chapter 1: New Kits

"When will Joykit and Blossomkit open their eyes. I want to go explore the camp." Asked Duskkit impatiently.

" Patience my sweet. They will open their eyes when they are ready." Replied Willowheart drowsily.

It had been two sunrises ago when Willowheart had Mousetails's kits, Duskkit, Joykit, and Blossomkit. All of LightningClan were waiting for kits as there had not been kits for 5 moons.

Duskkit wanted to go outside and explore as there was nothing to do inside the nursery. Assured by her mother's snores she decided to go.

When she entered the outside world she wished she had ten eyes so she could see everything.

Near the apprentice's cave she could see two pretty tabby's eating prey together.

"This vole is hardly a meal.

"Let's go ask if we can hunt."

"Okay"

On the other side of the clearing she could see the medicine cat, Tansyleaf, going out to collect herbs.

But before she could explore any further she bumped into a dark tabby tom.

" What are you doing out here?" Asked a gruff voice

" I came outside to explore." Replied Duskkit bravely.

" Does your mother know you're here?".

"Yes!" She lied.

" Okay, then I will take you to the elders. That is better than you getting under any cat's paws."

I hope Willowheart doesn't wake up any time soon. Well going to the elders is better than staying in the nursery I guess.

The elders den looked similar to the nursery other than the fact that there was a horrid smell which she remembered was mouse bile as she smelled it a lot when the apprentices came to give fresh kill to the queens. The nursery had the sweet smell of milk which made her want to sleep.

" I have a surprise for you all." The deputy, Stormheart, said.

The elders looked up and saw little Duskkit looking a bit shy.

" A kit!!" Said an old tortoiseshell.

" Thank StarClan. It has been moons since I have tripped over a kit." Said a cream colour tom happily.

The way the elders were talking, I thought that they were expecting me to kill an adder.

Duskkit stayed with the elders for a long time. They told her many stories about her parents.

" Your father got into so much trouble as a kit. I remember one time when I couldn't find him anywhere and Applestar, the leader back then, organized a search party and found him buried in the snow, freezing." Frostnose, her father's mother purred.

" Your mother got into trouble as a kit but when she was an apprentice she was very focused about learning. Your father was focused alright... on her!" Hopwing, her mother's mother, said making all of them purr with laughter.

Duskkit stayed with the elders for a long time.

" I think it is time for you to go back. You look dead on your paws." Stormheart said suddenly.

"Okay, fine." Replied Duskkit sadly but tiredly.

" Bye Duskkit. Bring your littermates next time." Frostnose said as she was going back to her nest.

Oh no! Look what time it is. Willowheart will be so upset with me. I wonder if Joykit and Blossomkit opened their eyes yet.

Just as she said goodbye to Stormheart her mother jumped up and started licking her.

" I can't believe that you would just leave without telling me." Her mother started scolding her.

" You were asleep." Protested Duskkit as she slipped away from her mother.

" So you should have waited until I woke up." Replied Willowheart crossly.

" You didn't when you went outside and the camp and ThunderClan caught you in their territory." She said while purring.

Her mother gave her a slight cuff on her ear but she knew that her mother wasn't angry.

" I see you went to go see the elders."

" They told me many stories."

While they were talking she hardly noticed her two littermates peeping from the nest to look at her.

Her mother made them go to sleep and while her mother was snoring all she could think was about her day with the elders.
