Duskflower's Story

Chapter 26: Bad Mood

  Duskflower could not have been more wrong about her previous statement. Hazelwind came back after around two days. She told the Clan that WindClan and RiverClan didn't agree to help them. So their only ally was ShadowClan. 

  Hazelwind completely ignored Duskflower when she was trying to ask her what happened. She just walked off to the medicine cat's den. 

Fine then, if she wants to ignore me, then two can play that game.

  Duskflower decided to clear her head by training Lavenderpaw. But Duskflower was in a bad mood which resulted in not such a good training session.  She was trying to teach her apprentice the front paw blow. Lavenderpaw was trying very hard but she still couldn't get it.

"Lavenderpaw! All you have to do is bring your paws down hard on my head, its not that hard!"

"I'm so sorry Duskflower."

"Sorry fills no bellies. Let's stop training and you can go change the bedding in the nursery."

  The young apprentice left, her tail drooping down and a clear look of defeat on her face. Duskflower, to her surprise, saw that Stormstar was coming towards the leader's den. She ran towards him to talk.

"Stormstar?"

"Yes Duskflower..."

"Are you better now?"

"Yes, more than better!  I feel great, I can finally come back to my duties. Thank you Duskflower."

"Why are you thanking me?"

"Well I heard that you helped Hazelwind when I was sick."

"Oh, your welcome."

"Now I have a few things to do."

"Yes." She dipped her head and went to the nursery. She could see that the kits were driving her sister crazy.

"Amberkit, get down from there and come and sleep."

"No, no, no! I want to explore."

"Amberkit!" Blossomflight took the kit by the scruff while Amberkit was squealing.

Duskflower came inside and her sister seemed relived to see her.

"Finally, what took you so long?"

"I had to train Lavenderpaw, then I saw Stormstar. He seems better now."

"Thank StarClan."

"So how are the kits?"

"Well if the three of them want to do something, they will no matter what any cat says. Amberkit likes to hide in places no one sees. Rosekit runs out every time someone enters the nursery. Honeykit likes to ruin all the nests. And Fallsplash rarely comes here."

"I'm sorry."

"It doesn't matter, I love them so much. I didn't know I could love so much."

"Ok...before this gets sappy. Are you hungry?"

"Starving, but if I leave the kits will get in all sorts of trouble."

"I'm going to go and get you a nice sparrow."

"Thank you!"

As Duskflower was about to take a sparrow from the fresh-kill pile, Crystallight stopped her.

"Oh hello Crystallight!"

"Why were you rude to Lavenderpaw during training?"

"She couldn't learn such a easy move."

"She was in the medicine cat's den for more than a moon! You have to be patient with apprentices."

"Don't interfere with my training methods."

"I am her mother and I will."

"What kind of warrior will she be if she runs to her mother when her mentor scolds her?"

"She didn't tell me, I was hunting and I got to see your 'methods'."

"Well then you know how much a mousebrain your daughter is."

"She is not a mousebrain! If you can't teach her well, then I will ask Stormstar to change her mentor!"

"Fine with me!"

Duskflower stormed off and ignored the stares of the Clan. Willowheart stopped her before she was able to leave.

"Duskflower, that was incredibly pointless. You should go and apologize to her."

"No, I'm standing by my opinions. And Willowheart, I'm a grown warrior now, you don't need to question my every move."

Willowheart looked shocked but Duskflower just walked off. She went into the forest and walked around.

"Aah Duskflower, I told you that you can't trust the cats closest to you." Said a distant voice.

"Great now I'm hallucinating."

"Oh sweet, you aren't dreaming at all!" Said the voice coming into the light.

"You!" She snarled.

"Me! Did you miss me?" Said the silky voice of Berrytail.

"Why are you tormenting me? Out of all the cats in the Clan."

"Because you remind me of me. No one understands us."

"I'm nothing like you."

"Really, you tried to be the best warrior in the Clan, your Clanmates don't like you anymore, you have no friends."

"Just go Berrytail."

"Fine, if you want to help us, you're always welcome."

"Crazy cat alert!"

Berrytail just laughed and suddenly a large group of rogues came behind her and followed Berrytail.

"Where are you going?"

"To LightningClan camp! Finally, my chance has come!"

I'm back! I had a pretty good break but I can't stay away forever. I know this chapter isn't tha great but I'm a bit rusty. Just hang with me lovlies.
